Re: Throwing the baby with the bathwater
Doesn't the evolution theory predict that we shouldn't share pseudogenes with 'distant' species at all?
I think this is worth a lot more discussion.
However, from one viewpoint, we are not all that distant from a rabbit. That is about 50 or 60 million years out of more than 400 for some things.
has an identical region of homology to human chr 20
What does this mean? an identical region could be a very long stretch or just a bit. I think, but need an expert, that with the understood rates of mutation, we should share some stretchs with a rabbit still. How long though would be the question.
By my understanding a lot of identical pseudogene would be something that would need some explaining.

I do NOT believe in creationism if defined as the literal story of creation given in the Bible. I do NOT accept "creation science" as valid science. I DO believe God created the Universe. I DO accept the ToE as the best scientific explanation of how life on earth came to be as it is.
I believe that God is sovereign over nature. Evolution, as a natural process, is therefore subject to God's will. We, as mere mortals constrained by the dimensions of time and space, might not be able to detect God's hand in creation past the moment of the Big Bang, but God, who is not constrained by the dimensions of time and space, is still in control of the natural processes running the Universe, including evolution. God can have an active role in the Universe because he is sovereign over nature, which is, after all, His creation. I'm not saying I think God 'bends' or otherwise subverts His own natural laws in order to bring about changes. I don't see why a God who created all this would be incapable of bringing about any change He wanted to while working within the constraints of the natural laws and processes He set in place to begin with. If humans see something as miraculous and/or 'supernatural,' it is only because they have not been able to scientifically explain the phenomenon. I think any 'supernatural' event could, at least theoretically, if not practically, be explained by science.
