I can see how some might scoff at this and think it's vague, but for those with ears to hear, sometimes great things can come from terrible beginnings.

One forecast that I heard precicted a season of 17 more hurricanes, five of which could hit the U.S. again.

The hurricane was as financially devestating as the tsumani in Asia, but the Tsunami covered a much bigger coastal area. I suppose in terms of lost lives, the tsunami was far worse.

I do't know how much money that the insurance industry has, but much will be spent this year!

Re: Sniper fire
Its a bad situation. check this story out.
Denver Post writes:

Fights and trash fires broke out at the hot and stinking Superdome and anger and unrest mounted across New Orleans on Thursday, as National Guardsmen in armored vehicles poured in to help restore order across the increasingly lawless and desperate city. “We are out here like pure animals. We don't have help,” the Rev. Issac Clark, 68, said outside the New Orleans Convention Center, where corpses lay in the open and evacuees complained that they were dropped off and given nothing.

And consider if another hurricane hits this year with similar fury. It is not directed at humanity by a wrathful God. It is simply the weather.

It will cause some people to find God, and it will cause others to run from Him. (methaphorically and spiritually) One protestor had a point, though:

"You can do everything for other countries but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military but you can't get them down here."

You christians must be rubbing your hands with glee at all the recruiting you can do with desperate broken homeless people.

Actually, we have our hands full attempting to recruit contented,
smug, affluent people. Besides...we just run our mouths...the Boss does the recruiting! :)

Re: Power finally restored at my house
Glad to see that you are OK, Berberry! We were all beginning to wonder about you...This is a terrible disaster, and many peoples lives have changed forever. Such is life, but life goes on. For the secular heart, life exists through communion of the species with ourselves...helping each other when we can.

For the believer such as myself, Gods love shines like a light through the species...we are the body and He is the head.

Berberry, tell us any stories that you have personally heard from people that went through the worst of it....

Re: Coming Depression?
You guys scare me because you actually are not talking nonsense.

I read a book once where the economist (he was a bit of a gold-bug) said that if Gold was again used as the standard to back the dollar, the value of an ounce of gold would soar to over $60,000.00 an ounce...because of having to back the debt. As I type this, I am watching the History Channel...a show about the battleship Missouri.

It is firing the tomahawks that started the first gulf war, due to Iraq taking "our oil supply" of Kuwait. History will later show that 1990-200(?) will be all one war....And yet while we spend all of the countries money overseas, we are unable to care for our own people.

Stanford Prison Experiment
How about this example of Stanford parallels? I read about that experiment in psychology, and I totally agree with you Schraf!

We gotta shut this post down, though.

(Or can Percys new server handle larger posts?)
