Re: Obviously not Christian, but....
So let me get this straight --
You are against
Consumer protection laws, OSHA, EPA
???
Exactly what's wrong with saying to Ford, "Hey, the pinto blows up because you are cheap bastards."
What's wrong with saying to a chemical company, "You have to give them gloves and goggles if they are going to be playing with mercury".
What's wrong with saying, "Hey, you can't dump poison into this river, people drink this water."
If you are suggesting these are bad changes, I'd hate to see your vision of the good old days.
I'm always amazed how people who consider themselves "conservative" are always opposed to "conservation". What exactly is it you want to conserve?

Re: Civilian settlements for military security
I realize the situation in Israel is complex, however, everyone seems to want to paint the Israelis as the bad guys. They bought & paid for the land in question, sir. The Palestinians spent the money then cried foul, we want our land back. Sorry, that's not the way it works. You never hear that in the media though, do you? As for me fantasizing, I'm really not. I'm telling the real story, the way it is, no window dressing, no politcal agenda, just what happened.

Re: Obviously not Christian, but....
Let me tackle just one of those:
Consumer Protection Laws:
Before we had consumer protection laws, the average household lost $50.00 per year to fraudulent business practices. Since the enactment of the governmental regulations to "protect" us from consumer fraud, it costs the average household $2350.00 per year. You do the math. I'd rather lose the $50.00 & let the buyer beware.

Not me
They bought & paid for the land in question, sir
So they say, and no doubt they paid for some of the land, but all of it? Well, since you haven't supplied support (whereas I have) I'll just have to assume you have none.
The Palestinians spent the money then cried foul
The Israelis aren't the bad guys, but the Palestinians are! Hmm. Do you have any support for this, I'd be really interested in seeing it.
I'm telling the real story, the way it is, no window dressing, no politcal agenda, just what happened.
Excellent, if that is the case, I'm sure you can show me how you reached your unbiased view.
Until you can actually show me, we continue to be in the position of talking in circles (as I predicted would happen without some independent support of your position)...you're not intentionally derailing this thread are you?

WHOA! Way out of context!
First, when are you considering the start date?
Second, scale that $50 for inflation.
Third, what's the difference in GNP between those two periods. How much economic churn are we talking about?
Fourth, you're suggesting that lacking consumer protection would decrease the amount of fraud? Explain how that works.
Fifth, between start and finish we've gotten the Internet, a completely new and not completely regulated economic tool. How much of that $2000 dollar average has to do with online fraud?
Simply siting two different numbers is easy. Those numbers need to have context.

Re: Obviously not Christian, but....
Actually the $2350.00 per household was from 18 years ago, so you'll have to adjust that for inflation.
