Re: Dumping a piece of things Salty here
I saved a copy of the thing, in case it otherwise disappears.
Opening line in Salty's message 5 (addressed to Terry):

The reason this forum succeeds is because you are willing to tolerate all kinds of different fixed and immutable perspectives which include direct attacks on your own world view.
You couldn't even do parody of this stuff - It's already to wierd.
I was offering Salty the respect of using his preferred name, John A. Davison, but I've decided he's not worthy of such.

ps: I note topics seem to be disappearing elsewhere. Hope nothing fatal is happening.

The Black Box
I had a photograph of my cat "Hiss" as my avatar.
I changed it to a black box November 3rd, and also changed my location to "South Canada".

Hey Asgara - Gonna watch the Packers lose to the Eagles today?
Oops, it's the Vikings that are going to lose today. It seems that the Packers lost last week.

/sigh yes we lost. I believe they are going to have to rethink those teflon gloves.

Moss is still an a*hole though, and the fact that the franchise seems to be sticking up for him doesn't say much for them either.

LOL, funny coming from a state who's team loses to us 3/4 of the time we play.

Re: Hey Asgara - Gonna watch the Packers lose to the Eagles today?
Re: The Moss moon
Per the newpaper - It seems that it's a Green Bay fan tradition to moon the opposing teams departing bus, after a Packer victory. Randy just returned the gesture. Seems better than some goofy end zone dance.
Colts coach (and former Vikings assistant coach) Tony Dungie (sp?) said he thought Moss's gesture was funny.
A Packer fan co-worker (years ago in Nevada) told me "Randy Moss is a punk". My reply was "You just wish he was your teams punk", to which he had to agree.
We'll have to see if he's a gimpy punk today.

I'll always be a Steelers fan
I was mostly playing around with the pretend ignorance of the existence of football.
I was a little kid when the Steel Curtain dominated football in the 1970's, and it's left a lasting impression.
Just like someone raised in a Baptist area will always be a Baptist, I'll always be a Steelers fan.

Attn Philip, re: Behe the YEC???
For lack of a better place to discus this, here it is.
Philip, from here:
One Chemist (Behe, I think) seemed to vehemently convert to YECism while developing the concept of ICs.
My impression is that Behe is very close to being a mainstream evolutionist, old Earth and all.

Re: Attn Philip, re: Behe the YEC???
Behe's certainly not a YEC. He has stated he sees no reason not to believe in common descent or the mainstream age of the Earth.
quote:
Many people think that questioning Darwinian evolution must be equivalent to espousing creationism. As commonly understood, creationism involves belief in an earth formed only about ten thousand years ago, an interpretation of the Bible that is still very popular. For the record, I have no reason to doubt that the universe is the billions of years old that physicists say it is. Further, I find the idea of common descent (that all organisms share a common ancestor) fairly convincing, and have no particular reason to doubt it. I greatly respect the work of my colleagues who study the development and behavior of organisms within an evolutionary framework, and I think that evolutionary biologists have contributed enormously to our understanding of the world. Although Darwin's mechanism--natural selection working on variation--might explain many things, however, I do not believe it explains molecular life. I also do not think it surprising that the new science of the very small might change the way we view the less small." ~ Michael J. Behe, Darwin's Black Box, (New York: The Free Press, 1996), p. 7
