Guys, what do you think of lowering the sex age law.
Right now, we have 14 year olds having sex with 15, 16, 17 year olds, but as soon as a 15/16 year old has sex with 18 year old its illegal. It is legal to mary someone under 17 but not to have sex with them unless one is married ? This is utterly ridiculous. Furthermore, a friend of mine was arested for having sex with his girlfriend just days before her birth day where it would have been legal. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Not only is it disgusting its a sin, SAVE SEX FOR MARRIAGE!! THen you don't have to worry about STDs or being pregnant. There is no such thing as safe sex!

Ah, but what if the person you married had an STD? Would it go away with the wedding ceremony? What if you were married but did not want to become pregnant? Yeah there are plenty of good arguments for saving it for marriage, but yours don't make any sense.
This thread was off-topic from the beginning, but now it's completely illogical as well.

The concept of an "age limit" for sex is kinda whacky, if taken from a historical perspective. In the good ol days you were married not long after puberty, and had kids usually before you were 18! However, social norms, being what they are, have changed our perspective on this. People live longer, and often delay marraige and childbirth till later in life. However, the sex drive is still there. If you were 15 and married, it sorta resolved the whole issue of premarital sex. However, if you don't get married till you late twenties, that is quite along time to go without. Sexual desire is one of the strongest natural drives we have.
However, I also think such laws (within reason) are neccesary to protect youth from older sexual predators. Now, if you 18 and your partner is 16 or 17, that isn't a big deal ( and I think the law should reflect this) , but I absolutely believe it should be criminal for a 55 year old man to go trolling for teens! As for premarital sex, I don't remember that as one of the ten commandments. I remember "thou shalt not covet that neibhor's wife", but it says nothing about his daughter! (sorry, couldn't help myself : ) I think abstinance only sex-ed is worthless. I think abstinence should be discussed as a viable choice and encourage, especially of young teens, but you need to discuss safe (ok, safer) sex practices. Alot of kids choose not abstain from sex, but without other options, they engage in sexual practices that have much higher risks for STD's and pregnancy than if they had been educated about safer practices (birth control, condoms, ect.) . Also, think of this, a teen who has "safer" sex is alot less likely to get pregnant, and less likely to have to consider an abortion. Personally, I would perfer people be responsible and take the preventive measures. I don't understand why christians don't support contraceptive education, if for no other reason than to decrease unwanted pregnancies, and thus reduce the number of abortions.

quote: It's because they really seem to think that sex is dirty and bad. They also have a lot of fun demonizing women whom they can't control. It's seems that their goal is for everyone to hold the same Puritanical, "physical pleasure is wrong except in the missionary position while married" attitude. Remember, the Catholic Church teaches that any sexual activity that wasn't within marriage and isn't specifically for procreation is wrong. They have softened their stance a bit as of late, but it's basically the same.

I can laugh with the best of them but her posts were not done in jest. Seinfeld is an excellent show, funny, well written, great acting, unfortunately it's gone...last night was a classic, the "deaf line judge episode"

The church really doens't care how you do it, just don't use birth control. More babies means more believers! : )

quote: It's a common misconception to think that opposition to the perversion of a thing is the same thing as opposition to the thing itself. Of course that idea is absurb. Sex within the confines of marriage is a beautiful relationship. Some people like to draw the analogy of a sole marriage/sex partner being like listening to the same record over and over again. I like to consider it like buying an instrument and learning how to play it. If you are committed, boredom is not a problem.
