Age of Innocence or Chauvenism?
RiverRat writes:
The woman (both parents) almost has to work now, just so we can survive. That's what pisses me off.I wish I could stay home and raise my kids, and so does my wife.
That tells us a lot about where we are headed as a culture and a society.
  • Innocence lost. If we had a depression like the Great Depression in this day and age, it would hardly be the Waltons! There would be a lot of turmoil in the big cities.
  • Was not the idea of leisure so that folks could spend less time working?
I have never been married, but I would be honored to have a wife who took care of me. Unfortunately, I don't deserve her.

So are you suggesting that humans have never been innocent? I used to like reading the Life Magazines from the forties--particularly from the wartime and before! (MovieTone News was similar)
The psychology of how advertising and editorials gave their message to the public was truly different than it is today. Remember being embarrassed because the laundry had "tattletale gray" in it?
