Yeah, but us non-smoker/non-vapers are still holier than thou.

Re: Vaping
I personally will be interested to see how successful you are, and how it affects your overall health.
There is so much bad information and bad propaganda out there, that I would like to see how someone who was so enamored of cigarettes react to migrating to them from the regular ones.
While I don't advocate vaping, I certainly object to them much less than being around regular cigarettes.

Re: Vaping
Its 12 mg/ml, which is, like, ppm not percent.
1 mg/ml is equivalent 1 gram per liter of solution. That's about one tenth of a percent and not like 1 part per million. 12 mg/ml is about 1.2 per cent by weight.
Despite the fact that it isn't a goal for you. I hope switching to vaping does help improve your health/longevity.

Re: Vaping
Meh, not so much. I've had 36 mg/ml juice, it just tasted like shit. Given how much you smoked, I wouldn't be worried about the juice. Just don't drink it.
I just meant overdosing to the point of getting a headache.

Re: Vaping
I have always enjoyed pretty good health. Mostly by the luck of the draw I think. My bp at my last visit to the doc was 112/68 and heart rate of 65. I am 47 and have been smoking since I was about 15 but much heavier in the last 10 yrs.
After 5 days of vaping I notice that I breath easier and that my smokers cough is fading fast. Food is tasting more intense and my sense of smell is getting stronger. I had been developing a general sense of congestion and that is falling off. My sinuses are substantially clearer.
On the down side I do notice a slight dryness in my eyes and throat but that is diminishing. I had sore lips for the first 2 days but that is gone now. Maybe a bit of increased flatulence but they smell like antifreeze now instead of a dead animal.
All things considered so far I would have to say that it is an absolute improvement over smoking in every way.

So, how's it going? Still good? Has your family noticed or said anything?

Re: Vaping
It is going very well. My kids were fascinated for a bit but then seemed pretty much indifferent. They did say that it smells better than smoke. It is nice that I dont have to shoo them out of my smoke filled office. I can vape like a fiend and the air stays clear.
It has been a process of trial and error testing flavours and strength and hardware. I guess the whole thing is more finicky than smoking. The equipment and vials remind me of syringes and medicine which is a bit off putting but no big deal. I bought a dry leaf atomizer that is pretty sweet too.
In ten days I have used about 25ml of juice at a cost of 50 cents/ml so the economics are fantastic.
Health wise I find a continued improvement in my breathing with clearer sinuses being the most noticeable. The only down side is that my lips will get sore if I use it too much.
I smoked 3 cigs on the day that I bought it and then I tried to smoke one yesterday and didn't get past the first drag. Absolutely phenomenal.

Re: Just don't exhale
Perhaps people would rather not be dosed with nicotine?
This study detected no nicotine in the air after a vape session:

Re: Just don't exhale
From this brief "Poster" (not a study), it doesn't appear they were testing for nicotine in the air.

Not so loud. The government will find a way to tax it.

From this brief "Poster" (not a study), it doesn't appear they were testing for nicotine in the air.
Its under Methods:
quote:
We measured total organic carbon (TOC), tolluene, xylene, carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOX), nicotine, acrolein, poly-aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) glycerin and propylene glycol levels on the air of the room.
and Results:
quote:
No tolluene, xylene, CO, NOX, nicotine, acrolein or PAHs were detected on room air during e-CIG session.
Here's the full thing:

And here's another one:

quote:
There was no evidence of potential for exposures of e-cigarette users to contaminants that are associated with risk to health at a level that would warrant attention if it were an involuntary workplace exposures.

It seems to depend on the brand.

Its not clear that the nicotine levels they detected were from vapor exhaled by a person as opposed to the vapors generated directly from the smoking machine.

Re: Just don't exhale
My mistake. I could have sworn I didn't see nicotine in the list of items measured. I don't know how I could have missed it but I did, my apologies.
I am a bit surprised that they didn't detect any nicotine in the air after vaping though.

Its absorbed into the body, that's why we do it.
