Sounds like you were doing a beat box from the wrong end.
Then again, that's a popular technique employed by a number of famous recording artists, including that guy from the Police Academy movies.

I Could Be Wrong, But I'm Not
Once again, you introduce only irrelevancies to the debate. I proved somewhere that you and Wounded King are like tits on a bull, and Popper will back me up on this. The only valid way to listen to music is one note at a time, and as a result my World Catalog of Music project is only up to ABBA so far and my neighbors have complained. I also deplore the ideology that is reflected by the whole East Coast-West Coast comparison, and Ice-T's 'Born Dead' seems to advocate eugenics at least to my ears.
regards,
Esteban Hambre

Whatever, you say
The only good music is the music from the bible, etc, church music, etc, modern music is the devil, etc, etc,, in God's divine plan everyone's a vegetarian, etc, etc, etc so Biggie Smalls and Tupac don't shoot at each other, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...

Re: I heard it somewhere
You have no argument. I would ask the moderators to intervene but then I would have to admit that I am undecided as to whether on not it was really the captain was the creative force of the Captain and Taneal. East Coast-West Coast is like comparing elephants to oranges. Most standard musical texts will show you that the number of records made by Kid Rock as opposed to the extinction of Pat Boone's heavy metal career is how one should look at music popularity. A review of an interview with Sting supports what I said. You are just using laywering tricks to bring up bull tits and Popper in the same sentence..everyone should just go away.

Mo Larry nor Curly

Data Gathered So Far(Hiding Part 4)
So far it looks like most people on this forum prefer classic rock. I'll boldly assert that the average level of intelligence and/or wisdom is much higher on this forum than the general public, and with that in mind I've noticed that progressive music of some kind is preferred to more unorthodox music like rap and hip hop(on this forum). I wonder if that says anything about rap being for stupid people, or rock being the soundtrack of science? Maybe not; either way I really hope we can get more people replying to this, because it'd be really interesting to see what kind of music some people on here listen to. Specifically Nosey Ned and Mike the Wiz because I can't really think of any music compatible with either of them.
...And am I the only one on here who listens to country?! Come on, there's gotta be some fellow rednecks on here!

Wanna feel God? Step onto the wrestling mat and you'd be crazy to deny the uplifting spirit. http://www.BadPreacher.5u.com (incomplete, but look anyway!)

Re: Data Gathered So Far(Hiding Part 4)
Glad this was bumped back up, it allows me to correct a grievous oversight in my original post in this thread. I somehow forgot to mention my absolute favorite modern rock group: The White Stripes. Nothing quite like them out there today; Jack White is one of the most talented guitarists in the history of rock. Not quite as good as Hendrix, but he comes close!

I like most rock music up to and including heavy metal and the big hair bands. When grunge came along, it kind of lost me. I don't know what they call it any more, but it isn't rock n roll any longer. They need to come up with a new name for the modern stuff. IMO Guns n Roses was the last great rock n roll band.
All time favorite: The Doors
Love lots of other bands listed already. I'd probably add Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Guess Who, Steppenwolf, The Allman Bros. [Statesboro Blues - WOW], Bob Seger, Nugent, Frampton, my man Carlos Santana, Uriah Heep, Foghat, Edgar Winters, and The Village People. Actually, I just threw that last one in there for a laugh. Really!
B2P, I listen to a little country, and have over the years. In the past, I have liked: Charley Pride, Roy Clark, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Conway Twitty, Lynn Anderson, Tanya Tucker, Suzy Boguss, Crystal Gayle. More recently, I like Shania Twain (who doesn't?), Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Garth, Travis Tritt.

Verzem, your taste is admirable with the exception of not liking modern rock and liking shania twain(I don't care for her because she sounds like my air conditioner when it's turned up high).
By the way, which 'side' are you on in the debate generally, out of curiousity?

Re: Data Gathered So Far(Hiding Part 4)
Yeah White Friggin Stripes! That's actually the first CD I have purchased in a long time.
Von Bondies
Muse
Beastie Boys
Strokes
Yeah, yeah, yeahs
Crystal Method
Fat Boy Slim
Sneaker Pimps
Dave Matthews
Weezer
For some strange reason I really like the Ignition Remix by R Kelly.
Basically anything but 95% of country and hip/hop and whatever the hell it is that the bionce/aguilara/jlo crowd are singing.
During Gay Pride weekend here in San Fran, K105.3 became KGAY all weekend with "Sweet Lovin' Tranny Fag DJs" (his/her description of him/herself) playing all the fun music straight guys turn gay to after five beers:
Sister Sledge
Love and Rockets
Gloria Gaynor
George Michael
KC & Sunshine Band
all that stuff... it was fun music for a sunny weekend.

B2P,
What do you mean when you ask which side I am on in the debate?
Oh, I know. I do not think Oswald acted alone.

Re: Data Gathered So Far(Hiding Part 4)
I missed a question from Preach earlier:
quote:
And am I the only one on here who listens to country?!
I listen to some country once in a while. A few favorites:
Waylon & Willie
Merle Haggard
Willie & Merle
David Allen Coe
Hank Williams, Jr.
The Judds
I hesitate to mention Ronnie Milsap because I only like one song by him, but to me that one song is the quintessential country music song: Misery Loves Company. It's not widely known because it was, inexplicably, never released as a single. It's from his otherwise dismal 1980 LP 'Milsap Magic'. It's a cover of an old bluegrass tune by the Johnson Mountain Boys.
Ronnie Milsap has a horrible reputation because of his insipid singles. He and his record company do him a serious disservice because he is really a very talented musician. That talent is evident in his concert performances, the flavor of which is caught beautifully by Misery Loves Company (although it's actually a studio recording). If you've ever liked any blues-oriented country you should check out this record. I promise you'll love it!
EDITED to add parenthetic flourish.

look at that! someone else who's heard their stuff from before they got bad. that entire album is just amazing, it's a pity the major label one was nowhere near as good.
anywho.
christian (sort of) / "evolutionist"
i listen to just about anything and everything. favourites include:
nine inch nails
tool
tori amos
vast
smashing pumpkins
old evanescence
portishead
mudvayne
a perfect circle
rage against the machine
the doors
pink floyd
and i've just started to get into sigur ros and massive attack and delerium, but i suspect they'll all make the list too. though my favourites may look a little narrowed, i've got a rather impressive record collection, somewhere in the range of 3-400 records (yes, vinyl records) including everything from hendrix to the cure to slipknot, beastie boys, led zeppelin, and santana. even linkin park (shuttup!).
i'll occasionally listen to classical as well, but favour piano heavily. i mostly like chopin and rachmaninoff and glenn gould.
generally, if it's not country, stupid rap, or tacky r+b, i'll listen to it. even if it's acoustic zydeco speed metal, jazz bagpipes, or latvian nostril chant, as lore put it. (ok, probably not jazz bagpipes... )

Re: Classical music
Anyway, time to go listen to Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto.
i have a recording of this and no. 3 actually played by rachmaninoff himself.
i can never, ever, listen to another performance of either piece. anyone else playing his music just... well.. you can hear that they're struggling. he just does the most ludicrously complicated things on piano so effortlessly...
