Re: From A fellow CHRISTIAN
Science is about making theories and observations, the scientists are the ones who decide whether or not things are proof, science does not attempt to prove anything. The theory of gravity is not a religion, nor is String Theory. So why is evolution any different?
(born2screech writes the above statement)
He still thinks evoltionary religious faith is science!

Yes I do,but I just don't see how you could expect to learn either of them? You just seem so totally lost in your own world.

Re: There had to be a first!
I will answer to each question off the top of my head.
quote:
Did you know,Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777?
Even if this is true, our country was founded on the basis of majority rule with minority rights. I don't see how this info can help us in our debate.
quote:
Did you know 52 of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies?
If this is true, so what? This country is now the most diversified country in the world. Again, majority rule with minority rights.
quote:
Did you know,Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law, would begin making law...an oligarchy...the rule of few over many?
And this has what to do with what we are talking about?
quote:
Did you know that the very first Supreme Court Justice,John Jay,said,"Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers?
The supreme court also ruled that blacks were not really human and that justified slavery. What supreme court justices in the past had said have absolutely nothing to do with the here and the now.
quote:
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.
I believe that those were removed. Not sure.
quote:
James Madison, the fourth President, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves,to control ourselves,to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
Again, Madison also supported slavery and breaking treaties after treaties with the native Americans. Are you going to try to justify that too?
quote:
We can go on and on like this,I happen to know that America was founded on God,amen. Only God can make a nation free!
Would you like to back this up with an explanation?
quote:
When they say one nation under God,they use to mean it!
The 2 words "under God" were not in the origional pledge of allegiance. It used to be "one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." General Eisenhower added in the 2 words to justify that "God" was on the Americans' side in the war. Get your facts straight!
quote:
When we say the land of the free,we don't mean free to fornicate, lie, steal or murder the unborn.
Just what in the hell are you talking about?
quote:
Do you know what the Geneva Bible is? It was the Bible that came with our ancestors to America.
God is first,amen.
The Puritans were also some of the first people to colonize America. They happened to have a witch hunt and killed of a few dozen innocent people.
I just told buzsaw in another thread this and I'm going to tell you the same thing. What you have done is used tradition to make a case for your argument, which is something that I don't think even you know what you are arguing for anymore. You are in fact committing one of the fallacies of argument: Appeal to tradition.
You are practically saying that since A is traditional, therefore A is true or correct. I can say the same thing about slavery. Tradition doesn't mean right.

I am not going to even let you get to me.I know that you really want to claim all sorts of things about God to fit your world of fantasy and make believe.
I changed my picture if you wish to know because my husband doesn't want it on any message board or anywhere for the world to see.
I am not ashamed of trying to help a few little farts see the truth.
You think you help,don't you?

Why must I explain the circle to someone who already thinks they know everything there is to know?
The earth is a round circle.

Abraham Lincoln, who believed in God,freed the slaves.
I answered a silly question, how is that my fault?
Someone asked a question,I answered it.
You don't think that those who believe in Darwin are into tradition?

Are you talking about the Salem witch trials where many true christians were killed because two little girls lied to the whole church?

No, still there. (You're probably thinking of Justice Moore of the Alabama Circuit court and his Ten Commandments monument.)
The thing about the Decalogue on the doors is that they're part of a collage of many historical written laws, like the Code of Hammurabi. But the fact that ancient Babylonian laws grace our highest court is not a basis for the argument that the US government advocates the worship of Marduk.
Me, when I want to know the basis for our government, I look at the document purported to be just that: the US Constitution. And what do I see? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or preventing the free excercise thereof."
So, go excerise your religion all you like (just as long as "excercising" it doesn't mean persecuting others.)

What's up with this?
Why is this nonsense allowed to continue? Several threads have been more or less ruined in terms of their original purposes because of this woman. She has no intention of trying to understand any of the information that's been put to her, she hardly even acknowledges it. There was a point somewhere along the way where I began to think that she might genuinely want to learn something, but instead she seems to have become even more entrenched in her own ignorance. Leave her be.
And des, my final request to you is to leave us be.
My most fervent prayer at this precise moment is that this might be good-bye.

Re: There had to be a first!
I do not hate anyone. I know that many people thought the bible was wrong,or written incorrectly,ect....even books were removed from it,and that needed to happen as they were not books recognized by the true prophets of God,or the true christians.
You may claim that is a picture on Moses,o.k?,but I cannot agree with that. Pagans have been well known for creating such images, not true christians. So,it appears that you think all the Martyrs in Foxes book of Martyrs died for nothing,or am I wrong?
Well I am reading books if you must know,so I can try to at least grasp some of what you are trying to tell me,but so far I cannot find any support for TOE being a proven fact of life.

Re: There had to be a first!
Thank you for the lie's and twisting of words, but no thanks!
I provided you with sources to look up the quotes if you do not believe me, including the page number. The Treaty of Tripoli is available online if you wish to read Article 11. It confirms that this is a secular nation.
Did you know,Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777?
Did you know 52 of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies?
Did you know,Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law, would begin making law...an oligarchy...the rule of few over many?
Did you know that the very first Supreme Court Justice,John Jay,said,"Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers?
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.
As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see on the wall, right above where the Supreme Court Judges sit,a display of the Ten Commandments.
James Madison, the fourth President, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves,to control ourselves,to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
Nice copy and paste job from Forbidden -- The guy on the site even states it's just some email floating around, and is wondering if it's false or not.
I require sources to back up your remarks for each accusation.
We can go on and on like this,I happen to know that America was founded on God,amen. Only God can make a nation free!
When they say one nation under God,they use to mean it!
When we say the land of the free,we don't mean free to fornicate, lie, steal or murder the unborn.
Do you know what the Geneva Bible is? It was the Bible that came with our ancestors to America.
God is first,amen.
One nation under God, we use to mean it.. eh? You do realize that "Under God" was not added to the pledge until 1954 during the Red Scare, don't you? You'll find this type of stuff sprinkled in U.S. history. In that same year Congress passed the law that "In God We Trust" was to be placed on all coins, previously it had only sparsely been placed on some coins in the later 19th century (100 years after the U.S. was founded). In another case, the National Anthem which features the phrase "In God is our trust" wasn't adopted until 1931, again during a red scare.
Know your history.

Believe as you wish.I believe that America began as a christian nation. Also, you are wrong.I didn't copy and paste this information, one of my cousins e-mailed it to me,but that is not the only source. The court rooms still keeps the bible, and uses it.
Anyway,you are off topic again.
