There are different ways to approach discussions about evolution/creation. One is to look up, the other is to look down. I saw the National Geographic doc on artificial islands. I first felt contempt for terrorists I asked myself why all this tremendous expense for building shelters. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know about water power. Then I remember now these words about disturbing the natural coral reefs. They said "suddenly they realized that the opposite was happening". I think that's an important contribution to my knowledgebase. So I started thinking about the Yucatan and Mexico and USA building artificial coral reefs.
I'm sure the USA is involved with that wealthy sheik. At least the education filtered down to me. So that wealthy sheik performed a charitable deed for me, a mitsvah. Now I wonder if Israel is also involved.
But the whole subject of artificial coral reefs (not islands) would be very educational here. We know about the Sun star. We know precious little about the core of our Earth. Maybe artificial coral reefs can have an evolutionary effect for all of us.
Maybe there are Coral Reef experts who can talk about this and oceanography.
If one human being is wealthy enough to research all this data, then couldn't he as easily control the weather of the USA by sending up objects to create rain, etc. like seeding clouds? Even controlling the weather has an effect on articial coral reefs.
BTW, this is the way the terrorist talk to themselves probably?

Needs Work
Hi again macnietspingal. I hope I don't come across as "picking on you", but once again I feel your proposed topic needs some work before being promotable to the main fora. One of the purposes for the PNT system is to allow posters and moderators to work together to help create new topics that stimulate focused discussions or debates. In this case, I'd like to suggest the following:
1. Make explicit the linkage between your first sentence concerning evolution/creationism and terrorism. Alternatively, if the thrust of your PNT is to discuss artificial reefs in relation to EvC, remove the terrorism linkage.
2. Most people here are not going to get the connection between artificial reefs and some sheikh without your referencing a news article or other on-line resource where they can read up on the issue. You would either need to provide same, or remove the statemement from the OP.
3. You either need to make explicit the linkage between weather, international politics, terrorism, and artificial reefs, or remove that paragraph because honestly it makes no sense as written.
I personally think a discussion of artificial reefs could have some interest in the context of EvC. Having been involved in one such project (for a biodiversity conservation and ecotourism initiative), I can see how many of the issues involved may have bearing on evolution/creationism (for instance - ecological succession in a marine environment has its own implications for YEC).
However, I'm afraid once again the PNT you propose is not promotable as written.
Please reply to this post if you wish to pursue this topic.

    Re: Needs Work
    I feel lucky because you do see how important this is. I saw the rainforest exhibit at the science museum at Baltimore Harbor many years ago and it effected how I landscaped my home in Garland Tx which I just left. I took a ranger walk in Tucson years ago and it also effected that. I lived on a creek and have experienced the effect of subterranean waters. I've been to cancun and experienced the reefs. I will definitely see if I can find a quote from the documentary because it was such a traumatic feeling, something all the experts didn't expect from "nature" and evolution.
    I am 77 YO. We are at war. USA children are being offered up for sacrifice so we can talk to each other like this. I see no difference between Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers myself. Both were based on homicidal suicide. We changed the Japanese religion. The Japanese have given us better electronics ever since and love golfing. They also ate better and got bigger because of vitamins. We all participated in fighting terrorism in the forties. It wasn't a sacrifice because we all sacrificed. The war improved our economy even though this happened. The difference being we had been in a depressed economy. I understand the fear that if we act like we can participate in fighting terrorism it might effect the stock market. I don't think so because we are all connected in space today in communications. So it's hard not to be part of fighting the war for me. I will simply make the subject "Artificial Corel Reefs" and find the startling discovery because the fact it defied current scientific expectations was the "glue". Thanks again. You've given me a research task

    Immediate success!! In fact explosion!! More than I can handle and we can all learn together. How about the following New Topic announcement:

    So I googled and found out this. In fact it seems this is a very exciting subject, new and full of potential with respect to evolution/creation. We can even see it happen on a vacation. I suspect all sorts of surprises might evolve because of this aspect of evolution. Unlike the documentary, Dubai is presented here as a theme park.

    Orders of magnitude better. My only other comment is that you still haven't presented something for discussion. Perhaps end the OP with a question or specific topic you want to get input on, debate about, argue for or against.

    Re: Needs Work
    Will do. Will take additional thought but I love the exercise. I'm so used to being rejected that I stopped long ago with thinking too hard. Most people on Earth say they don't understand me I end up debating with myself. This is the first interactive response I've ever gotten to help me explain myself. This happens in real life too, so I am isolated. Even with my own family. It's very interesting about my family, because I end up finding out why by just listening to the TV and Internet newsletters. It all relates to Torah and the Creation theory. Man was created to fight about property/real estate and what to do with it in the afterlife. Children fight over their parents property rights. Cane and Abel, Isaac and Ismail (very important today), Joseph and his brothers, Isaac's double cross. That's the importance of the Torah Scrolls, the miracle of them. Don't blame Zeus or Juno, blame your mom and dad, your siblings, your grandchildren your wife and your mistress

    In addition from the Britannica: on "evolution"
    =================================================
    Introduction
    evolution
    The diversity of the living world is staggering. More than 2,000,000 existing species of plants and animals have been named and described; many more remain to be discovered”from 10,000,000 to 30,000,000 according to some estimates. What is impressive is not just the numbers but also the incredible heterogeneity in size, shape, and way of life: from lowly bacteria, measuring less than one-thousandth of a millimetre in diameter, to the stately sequoias of California, rising 300 feet (100 metres) above the ground and weighing several thousand tons; from bacteria living in the hot springs of Yellowstone National Park at temperatures near the boiling point of water to fungi and algae thriving on the ice masses of Antarctica and in saline pools at ’9 F (’23 C); and from the strange wormlike creatures discovered in dark ocean depths at thousands of feet below the surface to spiders and larkspur plants existing on Mt. Everest more than 19,868 feet above sea level.
    The virtually infinite variations on life are the fruit of the evolutionary process. All living creatures are related by descent from common ancestors. Humans and other mammals are descended from shrewlike creatures that lived more than 150,000,000 years ago; mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes share as ancestors aquatic worms that lived 600,000,000 years ago; all plants and animals are derived from bacteria-like microorganisms that originated more than 3,000,000,000 years ago. Biological evolution is a process of descent with modification. Lineages of organisms change through generations; diversity arises because the lineages that descend from common ancestors diverge through time.

    ==================================
    Doesn't this point to evolution of human beings having started in the oceans? Now with the new technology of artificial reefs, will this help us? Is it economical to support the construction of artifiical reefs around the USA to help us with understanding evolution. They are tagging all the different specimens in the oceans as it is. Wouldn't it make sense to have USA ocean laboratories around the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans for aid to global knowledge about evolution. It could be a Western Hemisphere project with Canada and Pan America. It would also be a fun vacation with focus on evolution. it also would greatly expand the intellect of every USA citizen together with the whole Western Hemisphere. French, Spanish, English using the same vocabulary in the great evolution/creation topic.
