My friend Victor is here illegally. He walked about 120 miles across the West Texas desert to get here, when he was thirteen years old. ... Similar to the way Europeans came to the same area, walking (or riding) deep into native lands, so they could carve out a living in a new (to them) land. If Europeans have a "right" to exclude Mexicans\Latinos because they filed a prior claim, then don't they have to answer to the prior claims of natives? Maybe they should "self-deport" back to Europe ... Enjoyby our ability to understand Rebel☮American☆Zen☯Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. Mexicans/latinos would also have a prior claim to the anglos in Texas.
Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

True. Down around Jar's neighborhood there are plenty of people who likely have eight or ten generations os Spanish-speaking ancestors who spent their lives north of the Rio Grande.

The family across the street from me are Hispanic; the wife speaks flawless Spanish and English (and French) but the husband only Spanish. Of course she was born and raised in Mexico City while he was born right here in the Valley. As were his parents and grandparents.

If he is paid as a "contractor" rather than an employee, he doesn't have taxes withheld - social security, income (federal, state, local), Medicaid, etc.
Does he drive a car without insurance or proper licensing? Does he use the emergency room as he has no health insurance?

Does he drive a car without insurance or proper licensing? If he does, he is subject to the same sanctions as anyone who drives without a license or insurance.
Does he use the emergency room as he has no health insurance? Many folk use the emergency room because they have no health insurance.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

If he isn't paying all his taxes then either he or his employer or both are not paying their full share of the burden of running our country. Likely his employer is not paying the employer share of Social Security and cutting Victor's pay rate since Victor isn't paying taxes. So the employer is either able to undercut the competition or pocket more profit than the competition.
Sales taxes are just a part of paying for our society. If he is driving, I think there is a good chance he has neither license nor insurance. I could be wrong. He may be operating like some people in Appalachia. They just hope they doesn't get in an accident they can't drive away from. They make the people who do get insurance pay extra to cover those who don't think they can afford insurance (or would rather spend it on something else).

So again, the issue is not related to being an immigrant. Got it. And I do hope you might also realize that driving without a license or insurance is not unique to Appalachia. So again, the topic is " Is there any evidence that illegal immigrants commit violent crime at a greater rate ". Do you have anything relevant regarding that subject?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

f he is driving, I think there is a good chance he has neither license nor insurance. I could be wrong. He may be operating like some people in Appalachia My understanding is that being undocumented is generally not a huge barrier to getting a drivers license. . My bad. This is completely wrong. Most states don't allow this. Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. So again, the issue is not related to being an immigrant. Apparently it is somewhat related to being an immigrant, because immigrants without legal status are unable to get driver's licenses in most states. You can get a license in another state, but it may be difficult to get insurance for the state in which you reside without an in state driver's license. Apparently it is somewhat related to being an immigrant, because immigrants without legal status are unable to get driver's licenses in most states. Many undocumented immigrants which qualify for DACA are able to get driver's licenses in a large number of states (with the exception of deeply conservative states, such as Texas). And jar correctly implies that this issue -- undocumented immigrants being unable to get driver's licenses and insurance -- is the fault of the system, not the immigrants themselves.

If you've filed for DACA, then how are you undocumented? Does that not document you? According to wiki: DACA does confer non-immigrant legal status but does not provide a path to citizenship.

So the issue is the employer and not the immigrant. This is what pisses me off about the immigration issue. Why doesn't anyone go after the employers? It's always the poor guy who's trying to find a better life and never the companies that are hiring illegals. People that want to crack down on illegal immigrants taking jobs should be going after the companies that employ them, not the people who are accepting the positions.
