Perfect. That little burst of cummings was esp. inspired.

Re: Scene III
Ah, robin, you are finely layered.
quote:
Sometimes I think I could go and live with the animals, they are so naturally and mindlessly designed. I stand and look at them long and long.
Yeats, too? Bravo!
Faith's revulsion, so redolent of excrement: what else could occur to me?
Of all the tents love has pitched, she had to walk into this one, sweetheart...
Well, perhaps malt will do more than Milton for her, robin ...if she drinks good single whiskey.

Re: Scene III
Yeats, too.
O Do Not Love Too Long
SWEETHEART, do not love too long:
I loved long and long,
And grew to be out of fashion
Like an old song.
All through the years of our youth
Neither could have known
Their own thought from the other's,
We were so much at one.
But O, in a minute she changed -
O do not love too long,
Or you will grow out of fashion
Like an old song.

Re: Scene III
I knew the Houseman, but started with the Yeats, and riffed on Bogie with the sweetheart and the bar.
Just playin', robin.

Re: Scene III

But you are right. This post was rather "literary."
Yeah, but it was 'Casablanca' too. It rocked. Look into your heart and continue to rock.
Holmes, you're Holmes: I hardly know ye, but I love ya already.
Robin: Ignore Holmes. One cannot constructively criticize a satire in which one plays a part.
OED.

Re: Scene III
robin, that the satire is larded with apt literay allusions is wonderful. The test is that it works on its own terms, whether the reader catches the allusions or not.
I think I have most of them, but I was delighted to learn that what I thought was an early Yeats lyric was Whitman.
What you are doing is fine. Dance with the muse that brung ya.

WILL you people stop this inane chattering and get back to work? I am starting top feel like the moderator in the play that can't get anyone to stay on topic! Robin, please keep writing. I want to read a play, not a reality show with a bunch of meaningless chatter!!
I refused to be chastised by anyone who doubles their exclamation points--that practice unfailingly correlates with intellectual and moral bankruptcy.
In other words, what a maroon!!

Holy shit, do you think one can produce this stuff on the spur of the moment?
It takes time. One has to cogitate. One has to study the various posters: also fornicate (that always helps). But when one is my age, one can only fornicate so often. It's not like one can just get it up on a whim.
Is there no Viagra? Is there no scotch?
Just look into your glass, and write. Jeez.
