Message 124 that it was off-topic and there should be no replies, Evopeach posted
Message 124 to me explaining that he disagreed and why, followed by a reply to the off-topic post.
No claim of perfection is made by moderators. Though I don't think so, I might be wrong that the sub-topic was off-topic for that thread. Moderators, like all policemen, are imperfect human beings. Nonetheless, chaos would reign were everyone free to ignore them. Someone has to make such decisions, and at EvC Forum this responsibility falls to the moderators. This is why rule 1 of the
Forum Guidelines requests that members follow moderator requests.
A moderator request is not the signal to begin a dialog with the moderator. Raising an objection to a moderator request is not permission to ignore the request until the objection draws a response. Supposedly the principles behind making a good impression and minding authority, especially when just having joined a new group, are learned in kindergarten and shouldn't have to be explained.
