You seem to be having some sort of problem here.
Try working out your problem(s) here in the "Practice Makes Perfect" forum. Ask questions about how to do things. You may want to look at dBCodes On (help). You may also want to look at Smilies Legend. These links are also available to the left of all message creation windows and all message editing windows. Adminnemooseus Added by edit: Originally we did have a "quote reply" button available in this forum. But misuse of it was causing big messes, and it was made unavailable. See Reply Quote function button to be disabled. Edited by Adminnemooseus, : See above.

Hi Perc ...

I think the error I'm receiving as current attempts are made to post my sig may have to do with the contraction "I'm", which is the first word of the sig.
Do contractions like couldn't cause a problem? quote: lol - although, I may not be close with that assumption. You can further identify with this here, here and by viewing the text at the top of this screencap. abe: All the posts that I've noticed this with do seem to submit fine, until or unless the sig is added. Hope it helps. One Love Edited by Bailey, : sp. Edited by Bailey, : abe

It really helps moderators figure out if a topic is disintegrating because of general misbehavior versus someone in particular if the originally non-misbehaving members kept it that way. When everyone is prickly and argumentative and off-topic and personal then it's just too difficult to tell. We have neither infinite time to untie the Gordian knot, nor the wisdom of Solomon. There used to be a comedian who presented his ideas for a better world, and one of them was to arm everyone on the highway with little rubber dart guns. Every time you see a driver doing something stupid, you fire a little dart at his car. When a state trooper sees someone driving down the highway with a bunch of darts all over his car he pulls him over for being an idiot. Please make it easy to tell you apart from the idiots. Source

This is message 41. Going to delete message 40.
Added by edit: I had previously deleted message 40. Just now I deleted message 41, which I thought was going to be message 40. Yes, the deleted messages do show up as message number gaps. Adminnemooseus ps: I was expecting this to be message 41 - It's actually message 42. Edited by Adminnemooseus, : No reason given.

Because we don't allow members to delete messages, this feature hasn't been much tested. From your description it sounds like you deleted only one message, message 40, then you posted a new message, this one that I'm responding to, and you expected it to have message 41, but instead it received message 42.
I remember writing this code, but I don't think I ever tested it. Looks like it's off by one, I'll fix it soon since it looks easy.

The story:
I posted message 39, hoping to get RevCrossHugger's attention. A bit later someone else (maybe Taz) posted a newer message to this topic, thus removing the "Attention RevCrossHugger" subtitle from the "All Topic" index page. So I deleted the newer message. That got me to wondering - How does the new software handle message deletions? Would topic gap numbers show up? So, the next day, I posted two test messages and deleted the first. The numberings I mention in the subtitles, however, were off because I had forgotten I had done that previous message deletion. Bottom line - Everthing is good. The topic number gaps showed up where and how they should have. Adminnemooseus

Ah, now I see. I didn't read your previous post carefully enough. So this is good news, one less thing to do!

This is a cut-n-paste from http://www.science-spirit.org/article_detail.php?article_...:
I tested both the Japanese and British children on the same tasks, showing them very accurate, detailed photographs of selected natural and man-made objects and then asking them questions about the causal origins of the various natural objects at both the scientific level (e.g. how did this particular dog become a dog?) and at the metaphysical level (e.g. how did the first ever dog come into being?). With the Japanese children, it was important to establish whether they even distinguished the two levels of explanation because, as a culture, Japan discourages speculation into the metaphysical, simply because it’s something we can never know, so we shouldn’t attempt it. But the Japanese children did speculate, quite willingly, and in the same way as British children. On forced choice questions, consisting of three possible explanations of primary origin, they would predominantly go for the word "God," instead of either an agnostic response (e.g., "nobody knows") or an incorrect response (e.g., "by people"). This is absolutely extraordinary when you think that Japanese religion ” Shinto ” doesn’t include creation as an aspect of God’s activity at all. So where do these children get the idea that creation is in God’s hands? It’s an example of a natural inference that they form on the basis of their own experience. My Japanese research assistants kept telling me, "We Japanese don’t think about God as creator ” it’s just not part of Japanese philosophy." So it was wonderful when these children said, "Kamisama! God! God made it!" That was probably the most significant finding. All the characters appear normal in the text box. Now I will do a preview... All the characters appearl normal in the preview. Now I will submit this message, which will save it to the database. Display of the message from the database was also normal. I will now try cut-n-pasting from Microsoft Word:
