Cavediver, at "God exists as per the Kalam Cosmological Argument (KCA)"

Thread: God exists as per the Kalam Cosmological Argument (KCA)
Message #: 68
A lot of messages piling up fast, but this one seems to be one of the better.
We have yet to experience anything that "begins to exist" so to claim that all things A such that A "begins to exist", implies A "has a cause for its existence" is simply making propositions about fairies' wings.
Everything we have ever thought of as a "begins to exist" is merely a change or shifting of form, whether at the level of mineral, chemical, atomic, sub-atomic, or field. This includes the much mentioned virtual-particles/pair-creation. The only thing that "begins to exist" is our terminology for the new form.
This message has led to further questions and elaborations.

JonF at "Quick radiometric dating question- misused techniques"

Thread: Quick radiometric dating question- misused techniques

JonF goes over the methodology (including some great quoted material) of determining radiometric decay rates and half-lives. It's probably been done before, but I don't recall it being done this well.
Also a tip of the hat to LindaLou, for the message and questions that led to JonF's message.

In a topic full of low points, this Modulous summary message strikes me as being a high point. In general, he seems to have an outstanding writing style clarity. But then, such might be a Moose delusion.
One of Percy's new forum features is that you can filter for just one members messages. This is the Modulous filter for the topic.

Stragler & Rrhain, on the funding and operations of the BBC, PBS and NPR
Author: Stragler and Rrhain
Forum: Coffee House
Thread: Latent racism in the republican party?
Message #: 16 and upthread
Message 16 is Rrhain's summary about PBS (the Public Broadcasting System) and NPR (Nation Public Radio), the U.S. public television and radio networks. There is also other PBS/NPR stuff upthread.
Stragler's comments on the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) can be found in 2 or more messages uptread.
There are also other nice contributions by other member(s).
We might need a topic title change, as the above cited themes rather dominate the topic.
