Take a look at a Perl online tutorial and let me know if it looks like something you can handle. There's plenty of tutorials out there, the top one listed by a Google search was http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Training/PerlIntro/

Did you look at the Perl tutorial? I think you have to look at one first and decide if it's something you feel comfortable with. Perl is a programming language in which one can write CGI software systems that dynamically generate web content based upon website databases and browser-entered information. If you're already familiar with another programming language like C, C++ or even JavaScript then Perl wouldn't be difficult to learn, but it would be a challenging first programming language to learn on your own.
