Re: Jobs Americans won't do
Can't read the white stuff. Had to ask my brother what our father made and he said 15K and said half that would have been a good income in those years. He was the manager of a truck company depot in a small town in Nevada, which involved tracking all the trucks and what they were carrying. I remember the teletype in the office constantly rattling off that sort of information. He also had to be the mechanic and fix broken trucks. He lent us welders' glasses to watch the bomb tests go off which we could see from a hill just outside town. Anolther part of his job was rescuing trucks that had broken down out in the desert. With no cell phones the drivers had to get a ride to the nearest phone to get help. My brother hung out with him at every opportunity and mentioned that he remembered a time when he had to actually rebuild a diesel engine out on the road and it took two days, and they slept two nights in his pickup. I'll have to ask how a kid managed to deal with all that time with nothing to do. Or maybe he was like the nurse who hands the doctor the tools while he works or something like that. Anyway I'd say he earned his money. We certainly didn't live high on the hog though, so I never had any idea how well off we were or weren't.

Senate Resolution to Condemn Trump on Foreign Policy
The Senate under Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is poised to condemn Trump on his foreign policy positions after he lashed out at his National Intelligence and CIA directors (Dan Coats and Gina Haspel) after they contradicted his recent pronouncements on Syria and Afghanistan. And as made clear in Senators' questions to Coats and Haspel, the Senate is also concerned about Trump's positions on North Korea, Russia and Iran.
  • The Hill: GOP poised to rebuke Trump
    quote:
They plan to send Trump a stern admonishment by voting Thursday afternoon on an amendment sponsored by McConnell warning “the precipitous withdrawal” of U.S. forces from Syria and Afghanistan “could put at risk hard-won gains and United States national security.”
  • Washington Post: Trump administration faces an increasingly adversarial Congress ” in both parties
    quote:
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) introduced this week an amendment to Middle East policy legislation that rebuked Trump’s decision to pull back troops from Syria and Afghanistan.
While there have been some long-standing disagreements between Senate Republicans and the White House on foreign policy, the amendment ” coming from the top Republican senator who has worked hand-in-glove with Trump on many shared priorities ” was one of the most forceful protests against the president’s foreign policy.
  • USA Today: Senate to vote on bill warning against "precipitous withdrawal" from Syria and Afghanistan
    quote:
Lawmakers are poised to cast a key vote on a measure, sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., warning against a "precipitous withdrawal" of American forces from Syria and Afghanistan. McConnell has been deeply reluctant to criticize or cross Trump, making his move particularly notable.
"The United States is engaged in Syria and Afghanistan for one simple reason: Because our enemies are engaged there," McConnell said in remarks from the Senate Wednesday. "Dangers to us and to our allies still remain in both these nations, so we must continue to confront them there."
  • CNN: Even some Republicans balk as Trump targets US spy chiefs
    quote:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing an amendment to a Middle East policy bill that would acknowledge "al Qaeda, ISIS and their affiliates in Syria and Afghanistan continue to pose a serious threat to us here at home."
The Kentucky Republican's effort stands as a direct rebuke of Trump's plans to withdraw troops from Syria and developing strategy of halving the US garrison in Afghanistan.
"It would recognize the dangers of a precipitous withdrawal from either conflict and highlight the need for diplomatic engagement and political solutions to the underlying conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan," McConnell said Tuesday.

...poised to condemn Trump on his foreign policy positions
Gosh you don't say!
I'd be amazed if there was ever a moment when somebody WASN'T "poised to condem trump" for something or other. Just thinking of condemning Trump is enough to make headlines these days.

Re: Senate Resolution to Condemn Trump on Foreign Policy
The fact that it’s McConnell and the Republicans poised to rebuke a Republican President is surely worthy of note.

Re: Jobs Americans won't do
the Rio Grande why do you all focus on the problematic parts when the border patrol would be happy for a wall at many locations that wouldn't be problematic? The right kind of wall in those locations would cut down on their work keeping track of illegals and drugs and whatnot, and I'm sure they have the brains to deal with different situations differently, so if a wall, or a certain kind of wall, doesn't work at the Rio Grande, they'll need some other methods there. Meanwhile the wall will work for the places where it will work.
There's lots of barriers in place where they make sense. Trump's wall will span the border, predominantly in places where it doesn't make sense economically or strategically.
Border Patrol agents for the most part have the brains to deal with different situations differently. Trump and his followers don't, proposing one-size-fits-all.

Re: Senate Resolution to Condemn Trump on Foreign Policy
Not really. ANYBODY merely being "poised" to condemn Trump is considered newsworthy by the Leftist press of course, but it sounds more important if it comes from his Republican enemies. If someone even thinks something negative about Trump it makes headlines on Yahoo, and yes if it's a Republican so much the better. If there's even a hint of a rumor of a suspicion that somebody thought something negative about Trump for two seconds they'd consider it newsworthy. But there are plenty of scoundrelly Republicans who don't bother to hide their slightest disagreement with him.

He does *so* many things deserving condemnation. It's nice to see the Senate showing a glimmer of its Constitutional duties

It is extremely important coming from Republicans who have blindly supported him for the last two years.

Righto. As long as it's negative it's also "constitutional." Ha ha.

Re: Jobs Americans won't do
Trump is taking the lead from the upper echelons of the Border Patrol union. I don't know why they are doing that.
Officers in the field tell a very different story, some for and some against.
It's still a one-size-fits-all and overly simplistic solution to a complex problem.

McConnell has been one of Trump's most enthusiastic fellators Faith, and unlike Stormy, Trump doesn't even have to pay him to keep quiet about it.

McConnell - who was dutifully supporting the government shutdown - is an enemy ?
Besides it is worthy of notice when a President’s policy is condemned by his own party.
Yes, I know you want it covered up, but it is newsworthy which is why even Fox is carrying it.
