Hi Im new to the board, I've been browsing and its obvious that most
of you have a level of knowledge far above mine. I was wondering, what
level of education you have in general or in areas related to these
discussions?
Personally I have little in the way of credentials beyond what I have
learnt or researched myself. Im 19 and plan on going to university
next year to study areas probably completely off topic in here. So
thats me. lol
.peace.

MeCCanix Welcome to the group. You probably have a higher education than I since I did not even finish High school which has been a regret I have lived with ever since. I have been fascinated with physics and biology and have done a fair bit of reading through the "shotgun method" and I hold the illusion of having some grasp on reality but I am probably fooling myself.I do wish I could find time to devote to mastering the algebras and higher mathematics so that I could work on the areas of physics that require these in order to maintain a firm understanding of the mechanisms at work but hey life happens right? You will find a lot of people here who are well read and some who aren't but I think all enjoy debate and stretching their minds to see other points of view and perhaps learn things they did not know before. Enjoy yourself and I will be watching for you in the near future.

Hi MeC,
I'm not a huge poster here, but welcome.
I think the reason this thread is not getting much is because most people don't like tooting their own horn, so to speak.
Anyway, I have a B.Sc. in Geology and am currently in the last stages of writing my Master's thesis in Geology as well.
Hope to see you around.

It's a mix. Personally I have nothing more than a BSc - in mathematics - and a LOT of outside reading accumulated over the years.
OK, I'm left behind on some of the more technical posts - but at least they're from people on the same "side" :-) and I can usually appreciate some of what they are talking about.
Certainly I've had no problems participating here.

I have a BA in creative writing, with a minor in studio arts. That's why I make stuff up.
(Shhh. No one's noticed yet.)

I have nothing, well nothing that counts anyway.
A partially completed B.Com (Information Techology and Economics) and a partially completed B.Sc (Statistics). Reasons? You and dumb, as well as not having enough money and at the time not being sure what I wanted to do.
Now that I would like to completed them, I have a wife and child to support. One day soon I hope...

I'm "in progress" with a degree in English. I'm pondering a switch to biology (when I go back to school). Other than that, I love to read. Oh, and the wife has degrees in Biology and Russian. So I ask her stuff. (Although she thinks the whole EvC controversy is stupid.)

Who doesn't?
I only stay involved to atone for my years on the dark side, and to hear the arguments of truly informed people.
I have a B.S. in electrical engineering, and not much formal learning outside that subject. I devour good books and good web sites as much as possible because I aspire to be at least somewhat knowledgeable about a lot of subjects. When I go back to school (within a year or two), I don't see myself getting a masters - but I'll be taking some creative writing and/or poetry, some other languages, some anthro, bio, agriculture, and all the other things I couldn't take when I was hell-bent on finishing my EE in four years.

I'm probably one of lightest posters here. I am currently in school (after many, many years) working on a simple assoc. degree in computer networking and programming. I want to eventually go on for my bachelors and masters but only time will tell.
I am a voracious reader and love to learn, (that is one reason I come to this forum). I can easily get lost in some of the more technical threads and generally limit my posts to the theological ones, though I read each and every post and the links provided on them.
There is a lot of brain power on this forum and I shamelessly try and absorb as much as I can.

I thought all E.E.s were Creationists - well that's the rumor, anyways.

haha Don't worry, I took 6 months off writing my thesis and afterwards could barely recall my thesis title.

Ph.D. in Human Genetics.
Did a postdoc on the genetics and evolution of mammoths (also got side tracked into giant ground sloth phylogeny) and a postdoc on characterizing pathogens in Pleistocene fossils. Working on mammoth and muskox population genetics during my free time..prions and endogenous retroviruses to pay the bills.

BS in, get this, Equestrian Studies.
I got a pretty good general Liberal Arts education fairly heavy on the science and Biology because of the major.
A pivotal college course for me, at least in terms of my understanding and being drawn towards science as a way of thinking was one of the core liberal arts courses we had to take called "The Nature of Scientific Inquiry."
During my Sophomore year I started dating someone who was to later become both a scientist and my husband, who also influenced me to persue related interests.
I also have learned a great deal from the folks on this forum, although the technical Biological and Geologic discussions still go way over my head.
Any time horses are discussed, though, I'm in my element.

Schraf,
I have a horse called Mexx, who always whinnies when I walk into the stable. (Well, almost always. He doesn't whinny with his mouth full of hay, on account of being a very polite horse.) My girlfriend is heavily involved in dressage, she rides him in competitions. I help her with it, dabble with some dressage myself, and for the rest I take Mexx for leasurely rides in the woods. I've also jumped with him, but he's not very interested in leaving the beams where they are, so I gave that up. He's a very sweet horse and he'll do anything for an apple.
O, and I started to study 'Molecular Sciences' when I left high school. Didn't finish that and ended up being a computer programmer. I read everything with letters on it and seldom walk out of a bookshop without at least three books. (Rest assured, I pay for them.)
Cheers, P.
