Change of member name?

Is there a way to change your member name without having to rejoin the forum? I only want to drop my surname but cannot find a way to edit it in my settings menu.Brian

There is no way at present to change a member ID. It would be easy enough to write a routine to do it, but since your member ID is included with every message in the database it would require every thread in the database to be searched for messages from you, rewriting as necessary.Modifiable member IDs is a feature I would like to provide at some point, and it is on my list of things to do.------------------

Can I rejoin using the same e-mail addy ?

Uh, no.But here's whatcha do. Go to your profile and change your email to a non-existent address, like x@doesnotexist. This will cause the software to generate a new password, which it then emails to the new address. Of course, you won't get the new password since that email address isn't real, but you don't care because you don't want to use that member ID anymore.Once you've done this then just re-register using your actual email address, which now is no longer shared by your original member ID.I apologize that this is so difficult. I'll bump fixing this up a couple notches on my list.------------------
