Okay, I am not sure if this is the right area to be making this post, but if i am wrong I am sure the admins will move it to where it should be.
An American-Iraqi friend of mine, who has worked with Studs Terkel for the last few years, has decided to make a Terkel inspired documentary of the Iraqi experience of life before/after Saddam.
He will be returning to Iraq with his father, who left the country after the start of the Iran-Iraq war. The doc will contain interviews with people who left and are returning, as well as those who have struggled to stay throughout.
Right now he is looking for serious investors. All investors will get producer credit (and that means getting a producer credit alongside Studs Terkel, which could always be a conversation piece itself).
I am looking to see if anyone on EvC would be interested in helping fund a documentary of this sort. If so I will give more information on how to contact the filmmaker etc etc. Please be serious though. If you just want to know more about it, you can ask without saying you would actually want to support it.
I suppose to keep this as a legitimate topic of debate, what do people think about such a documentary? Is this kind of insight good or bad?
Should Americans be concerned about what the Iraqi experience was of Saddam and their liberation from him, or should we be more concerned about the experience of American soldiers and how removing Saddam protects our own country?
