It's kind of ironic. I'm very much a skeptic with regard to the claims of psychics and the like, and from what I've seen, Derren is perhaps the one person who could have convinced me that there was something to it. The first time I saw him do a reading I was just completely blown away. It was so totally unlike the pathetic attempts to fish for hits that I was used to seeing from alleged psychics. I had no idea how he did it, and had he claimed to be the genuine article he may just have been able to convince me.
Of course, I would have wanted to see him do it under controlled conditions first to rule out the possibility of trickery. But of course he admits that there isn't any actual psychic or telepathic ability involved so it becomes a moot point. Still, he potentially "had the goods" that no one else seemed to, had he only been willing to claim that they were paranormal or something. Makes me wonder how psychics stay in business at all. You would think that the existence of someone like Brown, who shows that the powers of the psychics (indeed, powers leaps and bounds
better than the psychics) can be faked, would really put them in their place, once and for all. Yet they still have their defenders. Personally, I find that to be a bigger mystery than any magic trick I've ever seen.
Ferret brain activity increased just 20 percent when looking at Keanu Reeves compared to looking at darkness, the study found.
