Hey, I didn't make up the gay-gene zapper. That was posted by an evolutionist as genetic evidence for homosexuality. Who posted it in your post? The evolutionist? Who typed it into your signature line? The evolutionist? What happened to personal responsibility?
Exposing someone's sin is offensive to that person most of the time. Jesus was way tougher on hypocrites than mere sinners. This message has been edited by deerbreh, 08-23-2005 02:23 PM

Jesus was way tougher on hypocrites than mere sinners. Yep! He said be either hot or cold, not luke warm. I'm red hot. I don't care if I offend you. I'm not here to be a man pleaser (no homosexual reference intended). Tired of the opposite sex? Want to turn your favorite football player into a raging homsexual? Then purchase your Gay-Gene Cattle Prod! One Zap from the GGCP will turn the Gay Gene off or on at your whim. So if you want your wife to get some hot girl on girl action, the Gay-Gene Cattle Prod is for you! *not intended for use on children*

Tal, I think you'll find that the first mention of a "gay gene zapper" was made by you. However, the search function is disabled at the moment and I can't search for your post. If I'm wrong, I apologise.
On another matter, how can you make the vicious judgements and snide comments that you've made on this thread and truly believe that you're witnessing Christ as He would want to be witnessed? Christ had compassion, Christ had love for ALL humanity and Christ told those without sin to cast the first stone. Without judging you, I would suggest that you've cast enough stones here to build the Great Wall of China!! All very unpleasant and extremely uncomfortable reading for other Christians.

Being luke warm has nothing to do with being offensive. By your responses here it appears to me that you are being offensive just to be offensive. There is a difference between offending people because you are doing the right thing and offending people because you are just being a jerk. (I am not calling you that but you run the risk of people thinking that if you "don't care" if you offend people). Being offensive does not equate to doing the right thing is what I am saying.

We are called to love not to condemn, which does not mean that love and approval are synonymous. We are all going to be answerable, not for our gifts, but for our choices. How we address people face to face or on an internet chat forum is one of the choices we make. Everybody is entitled to my opinion.

What's the problem?
I don't see one. Let me quote the article.
"Most of the headstones out there at Arlington and around the nation just say World War II or Korea or Vietnam, one simple statement," he said. "It's not, shall we say, a designated theme or a designated operation by somebody in the Pentagon. It is what it is. And I think there's power in simplicity." Yes, Jesus was talking about STONING A WOMAN TO DEATH when He made that statement. That doesn't mean that christians don't take a stand when something is wrong or stand for what is right. I have cast zero stones at people. I've shot a few, but only because they were shooting at me first. On this particular issue, do I think homosexuality is wrong? Yes. Am I going to voice that? Yes. Am I going to toss some arguments I find funny/ridiculous in my signature? Yep. Tired of the opposite sex? Want to turn your favorite football player into a raging homsexual? Monk writes me:
quote: I've enjoyed the brief moment of agreement with you. I must say that you are one of the most capable and intelligent conservatives on this board. I hope you never get too frustrated at the lack of able allies and leave us. But I may have to change my position on the issue you raise here. I've been giving it a lot of thought the past 24 hours. Until now I've been convinced that we shouldn't abandon Iraq; we created the mess so now we should fix things as best we can. It was on the issue of WMD that I, at first, favored this war. My first misgivings came late in the run-up, when Hans Blix suddenly started saying that the Iraqis were beginning to cooperate with the inspectors. I thought we should have given them more time to complete their job. We didn't, they didn't, there were no WMD and now here we are, trying to keep the peace in a country on the verge of civil war. Even in this current state, with insurgent attacks become more and more common and more and more deadly, I have felt that we should remain in Iraq until the mess we created is cleaned up. But as I was listening to the president bravely speak to that angry crowd of hostile liberals like Bill Moyers, I wanted to hear him say something new, something on which to hang our hopes for Iraq's future. But all we got was the same old tired "stay the course" bullshit. I don't feel like we're honoring the dead soldiers of this war by "staying the course". Perhaps if it still seemed possible that we might see a stable, modern government with respect for civil liberties established I might be more opposed to pulling out, but did you hear Rumsfeld's comments about the Iraqi constitution? I don't have the exact quote in front of me, but it runs something like "let's not worry what the constitution says or doesn't say, let's just get something passed that can be amended later". That's a helluva far cry from the strong commitment to women's rights and secular government we were hearing about just a couple weeks ago. If all we're gonna do is continue what we've been doing and if we're now willing to accept the replacement of a secular (albeit cruelly repressive and genocidal) regime with an Islamic one, then we've so drastically lowered the bar that I can't see what peace there is left to keep. Iraq is a civil war waiting to happen. The only question is when, and I'm not sure it's wise for us to continue to lose our good men and women if all they're dying for is to delay the inevitable. "I think younger workers first of all, younger workers have been promised benefits the government promises that have been promised, benefits that we can't keep. That's just the way it is." George W. Even in this current state, with insurgent attacks become more and more common and more and more deadly This is an innacurate statement.

Afghanistan is an democracy based on Islamic law (suprise, the US is a democracy based on christian law) and is considered a success.

Tal writes: On this particular issue, do I think homosexuality is wrong? Yes. Am I going to voice that? Yes. Am I going to toss some arguments I find funny/ridiculous in my signature? Yep. It is one thing to think something is wrong and express it and one thing to hold up an argument to ridicule. It is quite another to go out of your way to offend people for your own amusement and quite unChristian. If you really are a Christian, you want your words and deeds to be a witness for Christ, not be so offensive you give Christians a bad name.
original quote writes: You didn't read my previous posts. Experimentation with flies has shown that certain gene will turn otherwise normal flies into homosexuals. Switch the gene, and bam! they act like they are the opposite gender, and attempt to mate with other flies of their own sex. Your ridicule is quite misplaced anyway, as gene switches are well documented in the genetic literature. Here is one link. Study Throws New Light On How Gene Switches Operate

Tal writes: (suprise, the US is a democracy based on christian law) I am not surprised that you think this but: (1) There is no such thing as Christian Law. There is Jewish Law which is part of the Christian Bible but that is not quite the same thing. (2) The U.S. democracy is not based on Christianity or Jewish Law. The preamble of the Constitution does refer to a creator - that is a long shot from being "Christian." It could just as well be the "Great Spirit" of the Native Americans, the Yahweh of the Hebrews, the God of the Christians, OR the Allah of Islam. Nowhere in any of the founding documents is there any indication that Christianity is a basis for the United States. In fact, the Constitution prohibits the establishment of any state religion. That includes Christianity, as it is a religion.

I didn't bring up the question of your signature line in this instance - I responded to your post where you discussed the basis for it. Pot kettle black and all that.
