Guessing from the 95% humidity comment back there, near the coast somewhere, maybe? The further north and west you go, the less likely that is....

Well, you must not have visited West Texas. But I'm down in the Valley, along the Rio Grande.

quote:I'm gonna have to pull a Cornholio on you: ARE YOU THREATENING ME?!?! With any luck I'll get out of here before the real winter rains come. We've had two or three days of sprinkles and it was horrendous - it became a world of gluey mud after a fraction of an inch fell. I can't even imagine what real rain does here. (edit: LOL... I forgot what thread I was in) This message has been edited by zephyr, 12-03-2004 04:37 PM

I promise not to post about the latter day apocalyptic weather stuff slated for our "latter days" in this thread. I absolutely will not, EVEN IF SOMEBODY BRIBES ME TO DO IT. IT'S A PROMISE. I WILL NOT!!
Btw, did I hear it the forcast for last night at Grand Junction, Colo correctly? MINUS 28 DEGREES?? Grand Junction is quite far south. That must be a record. The immeasurable present is forever consuming the eternal future and extending the infinite past. buz |

quote: This gave me a good laugh; in my part of town, "autumn" is generally the night between the day when it's 90 degrees and the day when it's 25 degrees; and that's just during the transition, ignoring the more extreme mid-summer or mid-winter days. Happened just this week on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Also feel similar to Nosy's message about 18 degrees Celcius - having lived in NJ before Texas (and having been pretty resistant to the cold there in the first place), it's amazing to me how easily everyone here seems to get cold.

West Texas is effin' harsh. It doesn't have quite the biggest extremes of temperatures possible, but it's pretty damn close. Then you throw in all the other factors - storms, mesquite, sheer isolation from any kind of help when you need it, and it's just damn inhospitable. Everything about the place seems designed to make life hard.

48F right now at the Moose residence. Official Duluth, Minnesota temperature is 43F/6C. There are other local (Duluth area) temperatures up to 52F.

It's 40 degrees today and is supposed to go up to 47 tomorrow.
Overall we've had a very mild winter.

I had to close the screen door today. And still the AC is running.

I've run my car's AC several times this year, but since most of my apartment is underground I haven't needed it indoors yet. The soil temperature would have to go up quite a bit; even though it's in the mid 60s outside I've still got a small heater going.
Gonna be 75 here on Sunday, under sunny skies. That'll be something for January. Worries me, though.

It's raining here (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and the first day in a couple of weeks that it hasn't hit 70F. Yesterday's little rain was the first since early November or maybe late October.

The current homestead. Note the firewood pile at right front. Currently about -12 F, -24 C. I presume it will be getting colder later. Moose ps: I hope this photo shows for all. I have it stashed at a Yahoo group. Added by edit: Apparently Yahoo is blocking the deep linking. http://launch.ph.groups.yahoo.com/...itar/photos/browse/a180 will hopefully get you to the index page for the photos. It's a "chilly" 22 C (72 F) today. It's been raining for three solid days, so the temp has dropped to what we consider "ice age" levels. Although still sitting around in shorts, I'm wearing a sweatshirt. I guess it depends on what you're used to.
PS: The photo doesn't show for me.
