When I got up at 5 this morn the thermometer said -16F. Took my son to daycare at 8 and and it had dropped a little to -20F. With sun shining it has risen a little to -14. Forecasted high is -2F.
I am sure it was even colder in northern Minnesota.

We are only down to 27F here this morning, but has not been above freezing for more than a week. It has been foggy the whole time, so there is a nice coating of frost on everything.
We have at least 3 male Anna's Hummingbirds coming to our feeders. Strange to see them when everything is covered with frost. I assume they would not survive without our feeders.

It has been a cold winter here in my part of Idaho as well. we are usually 35 during the day and 20 at night in a normal winter. We are consistently at 0 in the morning and only 20 during the day for this winter. I have lived here my whole life and this is a normal "cold" winter for our region, but it is still annoying.

-20 F this morn
Where's global warming when we really need it?
It was around -3 here (Chicago western suburbs). It has warmed up to zero.
Temperatures of -10 were quite common here a few decades ago. They are a lot rarer now.

It's a balmy -17C here in sunny Saskatchewan, with a slight wind chill of -23C (I don't know what it is in F).
There was a young boy from Quebec
Who was buried in snow to his neck.
When asked, "Are you frizz?"
He replied, "Yes, I is,
"But the wind is much worse in Saskatrchewan."
I'm running out of places to put the snow. (My neighbour uses a bobcat to clear his driveway and the pile is higher than the eaves of his house.) I'm thinking of shovelling mine into my CD tray and uploading it to EvC.

It's about 50 or so here in Sacramento according to my car. I brought my jacket, but I dont really need it.
12 years since I've had to deal with snow and subzero temps.
I'm just going to take this opportunity to laugh at the rest of you.

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it. - Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers
A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus

cool morning
It snowed last night, but not enough to be seriously good snow.
Nice powder that would be fun to ski on.
Oh and the temp was 25°F this am, so I put a vest (in addition to t-shirt jams and slippers I was wearing) to bring the garbage cans back to the house, talking to a neighbor for several minutes.

Oddly, last year I started a topic on global warming as Christmas came and went without a flake of snow on the ground; I bought a new jacket last year and never got to wear it until this year, when I had to also buy a scarf and ear warmers to go with it!
I think -12 was the lowest I saw on the computer and that was yesterday. Tomorrow it is supposed to warm up a bit.

Love your enemies!

Ha ha!
On one hand you have snow . . .
On the other hand you have millions of annoying Californians . . .
I'll take the snow.
Kidding aside, there is something to be said for having all 4 seasons. The cold can be quite an annoyance at times, but nothing beats a nice snow during the holidays.

50 is good, especially considering the other temps I have been hearing. However....
........It is about 75 degrees here in Arizona...of course, while I may get the benefit in the winter time, the summers here more than make up for it.
Although, not too long ago (a week or two maybe) Arizona was actually recording lower temperatures than portions of Alaska, so I guess there is that. Lol.

Very little snow here. Might be 3-4 inches on ground. This cold isn't nearly so bad if there is plenty of snow cover.

Forecast for tonight is -20 again
Hopefully this will be the last of the bitter cold. They claim it will warm up to 30 by sunday.
With the wind blowing today I could only walk the dogs for about 20 mins before I had to head back in. Didn't get cold just thought I was going to lose my cheeks. You know there is a problem when the body parts no longer hurt.
