quote: McConnell - who was dutifully supporting the government shutdown - is an enemy ? Besides it is worthy of notice when a President’s policy is condemned by his own party. Yes, I know you want it covered up, but it is newsworthy which is why even Fox is carrying it.

You are certainly reacting badly to the fact it’s being reported, even though it is obviously newsworthy.

We don’t agree with you because - as usual - your argument makes no sense. Trump attracts criticism with his erratic behaviour, his continual lying, the turmoil in his administration, his secrecy and of course the Russian connections. And the lying about the Russian connections.
George Bush - for all the criticisms made of him - wasn’t as bad as Trump.

Well thank you for confirming, yet again that Trump supporters are enemies of truth and liberty.

My apologies.
However, even Fox viewers don’t accept that ISIS is defeated and want the troops to stay Fox Poll And I note that the whole issue there is an example of the turmoil in the Trump administration.

quote: Because that didn’t happen when they got rid of Nixon ?
quote: I’m pretty sure that acknowledging that you exist doesn’t require accepting your demands.
quote: Some of you did try. And they failed because they didn’t have a legal leg to stand from. And to be honest press criticism hardly amounts to a serious attempt to remove any politician.
quote: I suppose it is true you like him, but the rest isn’t. ABE The BBC has a report on Trump’s first two years. When it comes to keeping promises he’s behind Obama.

quote: The Wikipedia article on narcissm doesn’t mention charm, but it sure sounds like Trump. The “seven deadly sins” of narcissism are him, to a T. Edited by PaulK, : No reason given.

That really doesn’t change the fact that Trump shows a lot of the signs.
But your search helped me find this
THE MALIGNANT PERSONALITY: These people are mentally ill and extremely dangerous! The following precautions will help to protect you from the destructive acts of which they are capable. To recognize them, keep the following guidelines in mind: (1) They are habitual liars. They seem incapable of either knowing or telling the truth about anything. (2) They are egotistical to the point of narcissism. They really believe they are set apart from the rest of humanity by some special grace. (3) They scapegoat; they are incapable of either having the insight or willingness to accept responsibility for anything they do. Whatever the problem, it is always someone else’s fault. (4) They are remorselessly vindictive when thwarted or exposed. (5) Genuine religious, moral, or other values play no part in their lives. They have no empathy for others and are capable of violence. Under older psychological terminology, they fall into the category of psychopath or sociopath, but unlike the typical psychopath, their behavior is masked by a superficial social facade.
Sounds like Trump to me. (And apart from the lack of charm the following “Profile of the Sociopath” sounds a lot like him, too.) Edited by PaulK, : No reason given.

quote: By which you mean not caring whether something he says is true or not ? I think that is really the point.
quote: Or flat out making it up,
quote: There is a difference between missing something and finding sources which don’t list it. If you are going to argue that the charm is essential you need more than a lot of sources listing it, especially as with most of these things a 100% match isn’t needed.
quote: That is hardly surprising. I think that the shamelessness is pretty obvious. Magical thinking - how exactly was he going to get the Mexican government to pay for his Wall ? Arrogance. Trump regularly “disses” people on Twitter, often with little justification. Envy - well remember all the fuss about the Inauguration Day crowds and how annoyed he was when it was pointed out that Obama’s inauguration saw bigger crowds. Entitlement - plenty of people say that Trump is “awkward” to deal with. Exploitation - remember how upset he got about Sessions recusing himself from overseeing the Mueller enquiry ? Complaining that Sessions should be defending him ? When that isn’t the Attorney General’s job ? Bad boundaries. Remember the phone call with the President of Mexico when Trump urged the Mexican President to stop saying that Mexico wouldn’t pay for the Wall ? Because it was bad for Trump ? And when it would be politically suicidal for any Mexican politician to let people think that he might approve payments for Trump’s Wall ?

quote: But it’s not that people don’t go after it. It’s that they almost never find any evidence and that when they do it’s almost always fraud from the Right, not the Left. And in fact most of the squawking about voter fraud is motivated by the desire to prevent people voting. It’s almost got to the point where “voter fraud” means poor people voting - especially if they’re Black or Hispanic (at least when it comes from Republicans). Of course there was also the need to “prove” that Trump won the popular vote (there’s Trump’s need for approval right there).
quote: Ooh! I know! It’s because the rumours are all false!
quote: Rejecting inconvenient evidence out of hand is typical of you, so that won’t surprise anyone.

The predictable response. However, you know perfectly well that people have been looking for evidence - and nothing more than weak circumstantial evidence has been produced.
You certainly ought to know about Republican gerrymandering and efforts at voter suppression by now. You ought to know that rumours aren’t reliable, and that prosecuting people on the basis of rumours is silly. And you admitted that you would dismiss contrary evidence out of hand.

'Willful Ignorance.' Inside President Trump's Troubled Intelligence Briefings Time
...The officials, who include analysts who prepare Trump’s briefs and the briefers themselves, describe futile attempts to keep his attention by using visual aids, confining some briefing points to two or three sentences, and repeating his name and title as frequently as possible.
What is most troubling, say these officials and others in government and on Capitol Hill who have been briefed on the episodes, are Trump’s angry reactions when he is given information that contradicts positions he has taken or beliefs he holds....
After a briefing in preparation for a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May, for example, the subject turned to the British Indian Ocean Territory of Diego Garcia. The island is home to an important airbase and a U.S. Naval Support Facility... The President, officials familiar with the briefing said, asked two questions: Are the people nice, and are the beaches good?...
Three other officials worry about what one of them calls “precipitous troop withdrawals” from Syria and Afghanistan and a peace deal with the Taliban that in time would leave the extremist Islamic group back in charge and wipe out the gains made in education, women’s rights and governance since the U.S. invaded the country more than 17 years ago.
There are more examples in the article. But let’s note that repeating Trump’s name and title are necessary to keep his attention in important intelligence briefings. He gets angry when reality contradicts his opinions. He doesn’t really have a grasp of important issues. Which is a major problem in a President of what is still, probably, the most powerful nation on Earth.

You forgot that Roy Moore was removed from office over his Constitutional violations (he REALLY likes Establishment of religion).
(Cue the assertions that James Madison and Thomas Jefferson are evil “revisionists”)

From what I’ve read of those that have been checked (over 2000 IIRC) only two have turned out to be non-citizens. And they were put on the electoral roll by mistake.
Of course Trump went and claimed that all 95,000 were non-citizens. Trump falls for Fake News! Sad!

From The Texas Tribune
And there was reason to be careful with the “lawful presence list.” Driver’s licenses don’t have to be renewed for several years. In between renewals, Texans aren’t required to notify DPS about changes in citizenship status. That means many of the people on the list could have become citizens and registered to vote without DPS knowing.
After the secretary of state’s calls, the number of registered voters flagged by the state began to plummet. In Harris County alone, the state’s flub translated to about 18,000 voters ” about 60 percent of the original list ” whose citizenship status shouldn’t have been questioned.
And the same seems to be true elsewhere. Many people on the list who simply should not have been.
...Johnson in Galveston County says she has no way to determine whether the people on her list are citizens other than sending them notices that start the 30-day clock for them to provide proof to avoid getting kicked off the rolls. “They said, ”Use other resources,’ and I said, ”What resources are that?’” Johnson said. “They said, ”Well, see if you have any other ways to determine the information.’ I really don’t.”
So, the list was compiled so that it would include many naturalised citizens. Despite that a number of people on the Right jumped to the conclusion that none of them were citizens. And many citizens will get letters demanding proof of citizenship - without any good reason - or lose their votes.
