Re: Volunteers get respect (most of them)
Phat, I don't mean to rain on your parade, because I really do admire your volunteer work, but...
quote:
In many cases, the kids will tell me stuff that a skilled and educated worker from the Dept. of Social Services never will get oui of them.
How do you know this?
quote:
My point is that were I getting paid, I probably would not be as well respected. Teens can spot a phony a mile away...(
Why do you say the educated, paid person is a "phony"?

Re: conversion for hire
quote:
No amount of money or brainwashing can convert anyone, only God can convert someone.
Clearly, this is not the case.
Why, then, is the largest determinant of one's religious identification the religion of your parents?
Why is Christianity (specifically, Roman Catholocism) the dominant religion in South and Central America, and in a lot of Africa, most of Europe, and parts of the middle east and Asia?
Much of that conversion was done at the point of a sword.

Re: affluence and zeal
While there are many of fine charities that are religious in nature, there are also those charities that DO have strings attached. Then there are those religious charities that the percentage of donations that get to the people in need is not a very good percentage (look at Benny Hinn for example).
