hey lizlips. You seem pretty upset by the debating that goes on in this site. I agree, sometimes the tone of rebuttals gets a little out of hand, but criticism is needed in science for theories to be perfected or discarded.(don't let it offend you-turn your cheek remember?)
If you believe that you need to defend God, you are mistaken. (he does not favour sensationalism) I'm pretty sure God can handle himself. He asks something different of us than to prove he exists. He wants us to have faith in his return. Why do you think He has withdrawn for so long? (test the growth of our characters in his 'absence'?) Our characters are to be mirrors to His light, not rabid sheep running off trying to fight wolves in the bushes. (lol, I know it is tempting sometimes) Just follow the shepherd, and don't forgot His promises made to you. I believe that creationism keeps mainstream science on its toes in some ways. The incongruities need to be accounted for, not tossed aside. I personally find geology, astronomy and chemistry fascinating, and have been following the discussion on humphrey's helium retention studies,as well as his creation theory.(the water ball and all that)I love what that theory hints about 'time'. What is the opinion around here towards him? I know one thing, it is sure cool to see someone thinking outside the box and being creative (even if he is wrong in the end). I was thinking last night of a huge database, incorporating all data in every field ever recorded (minus the inferences). Sometimes it is frustrating to find out where ALL scientific discovery sits at any given time. I tend to fall back to a philosophy site that discusses science when i get confused. Maybe thats wrong, but it seems to be unbiased enough for me to clear my head Guide to the World's Philosophers - philosophers.co.uk Hey, if geology fans are reading this, i'm curious about the brea tar pits as used by creationists to suport some kind of flood model. I was hoping for some accurate information on this. I read that the bones discovered had some weird characteristics.....no soft tissue, and super packed together, etc..... Seems odd...... Anyways, gotta go....coffee's brewing ------------------*******sleeper********

SORRY JOHN! I guess I have to stop posting to you! And I have to stop calling you names too..which I will miss. Because I guess I am not suppose to be mad at people who don't believe in God. And I was told to not fight with you! You don't know how this hurts me to say the following: BUT I AM SORRY JOHN!
They said to let you go and not to be a rabid sheep looking to fight the wolves in the bushes. So I have to go now. Bye, (because I have been invited to another forum were they speak about space and such. I think I will like it better there. HOPEFULLY there arn't any Jerks in that one too. bye

quote: You are behind the times aren't you? "Dont" needs an apostrophe. "Your" is missing an 'e' as well as an apostrophe. "Tiars" and "responce" are both misspelled.
quote: Well, Funkie and several other posters here figured it out. Let's say we let you try again.
quote: I thought that I was lacking in the belief department? (Though not in the briefs department ) What belief does this contradict? And, what makes you think I was attempting to disprove something?
quote: Have you read your Bible lately? There are plenty of references to Jesus as the son of Joseph. That by default makes Joseph the father, adoptive father perhaps but still father. If you had taken the time to pay attention, you would have noticed that nowhere in the thread did I dispute the adoptive status of Joseph. That has just been assumed for the sake of simplifying the discussion. So basically, you are having a cow for no good reason. But its funny.
quote: Hate to break it to you but the bible is just a bunch of words that men wrote. But you believe it? What's up with that?
quote: Call me on some particular bit of Bible study. I seriously doubt you even know the basics. And, thanks. I am a geek.
quote: Did you miss the part were Funkie made the long-study==must know something argument and I corrected it with the illustration which you have just criticised? In short, it is a stupid argument. That is eactly the point. And as for your clarification.... WOW!!!! Is that even English?
quote: Did I dispute that one ought to have studied the bible before debating it? Is the authority me? Why would funkie appeal to me as an authority? Maybe you should pay attention. The claim is that funkie is appealing to the authority of some-old-bible-scholar. This is a fallacy.
quote: I can't have an opinion because I don't assume that the Bible is true? Sad really....
quote: Thanks for that insight. And I love the meditation. Isn't that pagan? Oh, and thinking is a bad thing in your opinion then?
quote: That was about the bible. Did you miss that? Is the bible god? If no, then I was not discussing god? Besides which, I don't hate the bible either, I hate what happens when it is put on a pedestal as if it were something it isn't-- ie, the infallible word of God.
quote: We aren't talking about thirst. That is something of which I have some experience. We aren't talking about water. I also have some experience in that department. We also aren't talking about climbing a hill. I have some experience there too. So you are telling me that I am thirsty with a thirst I don't feel, for a substance I have never seen, on top of a hill that isn't there? Pretty silly...
quote: hmmmm..... you don't know your prophecies very well. What was that about needing to study the bible?
quote: Yep. And the OT outlined certain condition so that we could recognize him when he got here. Jesus didn't meet those conditions.
quote: It should be easy to prove me wrong. So why don't you try?
quote: You start off clever and just get better and better.
quote: You'll get used to it.
quote: Overwhelmed above me?
quote: Snide? Funkie and I are having a nice conversation.
quote: You mean so I can be like you?
quote: What? ------------------http://www.hells-handmaiden.com

First off there LL, I already tried the blow up and rant thing, it's a good way to lose any kind of respect you might have hoped to had from the other people here on this site. Secondly sometimes you have to admit to being wrong. You are human, you are flawed, you can be wrong I know this site can be difficult sometimes it's quite humbling actually, shows you what you don't know. Yes John is frustrating when you don't know your stuff take it from me he's good at this. You will also find he's actually a pretty good guy. He boiled my blood when i first came on here, but realize this is a discussion forum and if you post something you better expect someone to contradict you. May the peace of God rule in your heart, that you will not be shaken or dismayed.

I know ol' LL is way out of line. But i'm getting frustrated with the actual conversation getting burried. Personally i'd like to see almost all the posts since yesterday completely removed from this thread. Other than John's response to me which is now completely burried in trash and i almost missed trying to skim through this garbage talk. We're all above this kind of thing i think, I hope. Although i laughed my chickens off at the interest in John's choice of underwear.

Even without Admin intervening, the board is now returning back to the topic at hand...It is nice to see that most of us can debate (even if we completely disagree with each other) but still manage to keep the debate relatively civil (well, I was not really that civil in most of my posts today..ahem)...but just in case it gets out of hand..the undergarment comments can be brought to action if you want to start where you left off with John..you can bump the posts of interest and then take of from there again...todays posts will fade into the background in any case. Best wishes,Mammuthus
