I don't know if Faith would like those credentials. She seems to think "orthodox" means evangelical fundamentalist. He does have good credentials!

How can my rejection trump God? Perhaps "She" has tried numerous times and yet you reject any hint of authenticity due to lack of evidence. If I refuse to believe in rabbits, does that stop one from hopping across my lawn? Why is the God you imagine so much weaker than a rabbit?
Phat writes:
No. It's your God's refusal to provide evidence that dooms me to not see it.
Your insistence on physical evidence may ultimately doom you to an eternity of waiting. Phat writes:
That's a silly thing to say. We're trying the suspects that we already have. I don't need to provide my own private suspect. The least you could do is take the initiative to create a candidate of your own rather than seek to dismiss all contenders as if you owned the universe. An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. That's a copout. In this topic we're dealing with gods that have already been created, defined, described, etc. If all of them are found not guilty of being God, we can go out and look for more suspects. I'm going with jars argument that even if GOD exists, humans basically create their own God. Thus, before you can dismiss one, you have to create/define them.An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. My toughest critics here are the people who agree with me. -- ringo

And you're doing the same thing that the authors of the Babel story did. You're portraying a God who's afraid of His own creation and has to make a pre-emptive strike to stop them from becoming too powerful. Im trying to describe how the Bible would be written in the modern era...An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. So again you're portraying a God who doesn't want His children to grow up. Does He need us to need Him?
He simply intervenes to protect us from ourselves... Phat writes:
To powerful for what? ...it is collective humanity (under no authority save ourselves) who threatens to become too powerful. An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. My toughest critics here are the people who agree with me. -- ringo

So why did He create us with a flaw?
He does not want us to simply grow up and have no need of Him. Reason? Humans are imperfect. We have a destructive flaw. Phat writes:
As opposed to Him drowning all but eight of us? Our chances seem to be better on our own. Too powerful for our own survival. Humanity without God will crash and burn.An honest discussion is more of a peer review than a pep rally. My toughest critics here are the people who agree with me. -- ringo

What effort have you made to relate to the others? You keep asking me that about your God. Why don't you answer your own question about the other ones?
... the One Who has a Son named Jesus is the only One who is able to relate. Phat writes:

Not subjectively. We all have the same facts. Phat writes:
We're not saying the facts are all in. It's just the opposite. There aren't enough facts to draw the conclusions that you cling to. I'm just challenging why some of you think that the facts are all in.And our geese will blot out the sun.

I'd agree with you that most of them are more plausible than your version. No other religion is even remotely like biblical Christianity. And our geese will blot out the sun.

Your idea of "anything Christians are supposed to believe" doesn't mean much. In the context of this discussion, the main thing that Christians are "supposed to believe" is that Christianity is The Right Religion. Whether most Americans are "practising Christians" or not, that is what they believe. I made a point of showing that my parents were not Christians, because they did not believe anything Christians are supposed to believe. And our geese will blot out the sun.

Yeah, that's what I'm telling you. You know zip about Christianity, as evidenced by your inability to discuss it. You can parrot what the commentators say but we have no reason to believe you've ever actually thought about it. Sorry, Christianity is not just what people who know zip about it think it is.And our geese will blot out the sun.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I only respond to you because your nonsense could mislead others. What you think doesn't matter to me but it does bother me that your nonsense could mislead others. And you usually prove my point (that you don't have a point) by running away. And our geese will blot out the sun.

There was. At least, there were any number of itinerant preachers in Judea 2000 years ago. The Jesus character in the Bible is most likely based on an amalgamation of them.
Is there more than one Jesus... Phat writes:
Nothing at all, unless they pay attention to reality, which most of them don't. There is little connection between the "Jesus" of many Christian beliefs and the Jesus character in the Bible, which lends support to the idea that the religious aspects of "Jesus" are made up. ... if so, what does this mean for Club Christian? Self-education is not reliable. You study what interests you, not what you need to know. Confirmation bias is a huge danger. I READ AQND STUDIED MY WAY TO MY BELIEF.And our geese will blot out the sun.

The way confirmation bias works is you don't know it's happening.

That's definitely true. We're all susceptible to confirmation bias as well as a host of other weaknesses. The difference is that we correct each other. If I'm wrong about something, there's no shortage of people on this forum who will point it out, whether we're on the same "side" or not. You, on the other hand, revel in being alone in your thinking. That's a cesspool for confirmation bias to grow in.
... allow me to suggest that you are swimming in confirmation bias with every word you utter, and so is everybody else here. Faith writes:
