Okay, you just earned some awesome points because Waylon Jennings is badass. "I've Always Been Crazy" could be my theme song...
but then again, lots of songs could be my theme song. "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger AND Metallica is another awesome song because ANYBODY can make that song sound good. Even my grandpa.

The Rach 3 is the best, but the 2 has several famous melodies in it. Of course, the reason they're famous is that they've been lifted from the Rach 2 and turned into pop tunes.

i personally like 3 better, but that's just me. they're both really good concertos.

Got any other favorite concertos? Generally speaking, the concerto is my favorite musical form. I like all of Beethoven's, particularly the violin and the 5th piano. Mozart's 21st and 28th piano concertos, the Grieg concerto and Tchiakovsky's piano and violin concertos are probably the works I listen to most often. I also like the Brahms piano concerto, though it's more like a symphony featuring a piano than a concerto.

i don't really listen to enough classical or baroque to be able to pick any at the moment.
although, i've always liked mozart's piano concerto in a minor (k 488) for some reason. probably the simplicity. best i can do off the top of my head.

quote: Well, I still enjoy and admire Fallen, but I agree that it isn't nearly as good as Origins. I wonder how their new cd will turn out. The guitarist from Limp Bizkit is supposed to be working with them, so it should be interesting. Regarding the country music/hip-hop issue that has been brought up a few times: For the most part, I think the majority of these bands/artists have less talent and put less effort and meaning into their music than other genres, but I can still enjoy a lot of it. The only two country bands that I really respect (though I admit there are many bands I haven't heard yet) are Rascal Flatts and Alabama, but I can stand some others. Here's a quick list of country/rap/hip-hop bands that I like: Country:Rascal Flatts Diamond Rio Lonestar Alabama Rap/Hip-HopThe Roots N.E.R.D. Outkast 2Pac Kanye West Twysta Goodie Mob Black Eyed Peas Wyclef Jean I probably missed some, but oh well. Before I moved to Tallahassee for college, I just wrote off all country and rap as HORRIBLE. Since I've been here, it's been really hard to avoid. Being around it so much has opened my eyes/ears to a side of the genres I enjoy. I guess each genre has merit, when you get down to it. There is DEFINITELY still a lot of music from each genre that I hate though...WAYYYY too much poppy, meaningless "I want to be a ladies' man cowboy" country, and WAYYYY too much "I'm hard, I'm a gangsta" rap/hip hop. It's when you get down to those artists that try to put meaning and technical elements into their songs that you find some quality. Just my two cents, feel free to comment. P.S.B2P: I wouldn't say only "stupid people" listen to rap/hip-hop/whatever else you listed. That's a pretty bad generalization, IMO. There is DEFINITELY a cultural association though, and not just with race. I, myself, don't like a lot of the influence the rap/hip-hop (please note I'm not saying black here, as that's NOT what I'm trying to imply) culture is having on the US. I mean, I know I'm only 19, but it seems like the culture in our country is going to hell. Just from what I gather about the 50's...comparing that to today...wow. Seems like people just behaved better in general, things were less complex, and life had more quality. If anyone wants to debate/discuss this, we should probably start a new thread or something, but now I'm off topic, so I'll stop this post .

Well, I still enjoy and admire Fallen, but I agree that it isn't nearly as good as Origins. I wonder how their new cd will turn out. The guitarist from Limp Bizkit is supposed to be working with them, so it should be interesting. i listened to fallen a few times. honestly, i listen to any of the three linkin park albums alot more than fallen, and that's saying alot. having heard the all of the demos, it just sounds like they were in the hands of a bad producer. the strings, in my opinion, were a very bad decision. normally i love strings, but these were just done badly. they did too many, and in an octave that conflicted with amy's voice most of the time. they would have done better sticking with vocal harmonies. (compare the bring me to life demo with the final version) they also should have stuck with the drum machine, instead of opting for the other drum machine, josh freese (of apc, tapeworm, and just about everything else, including the country bears). keeping the synthy post-industrial sound would have made them fairly unique, and put them in a category with nine inch nails and vast. instead, they went for standard ho-hum power-chord rock, lots of guitar, and simplified their work down into a concise formula. they used to have a very capable producer -- ben moody. since he's gone now, i have the feeling i won't like any of their new stuff in the slightest. remove the chemistry, remove the sound i like, why bother? although, origin and the 2001-2002 demos still get regular rotation in my cd player. and i heard it was the guitarist from seether. if it's the old guitarist from bizkit, wes borland, that might perk my interest some. that man knows what he's doing. but i'm more eager to hear some more from him and danny lohner of nin.
N.E.R.D. Outkast i'll listen to hip-hop occasionally, these two included. i'm more fond of trip-hop (downtempo, or whatever) however, including massive attack and portishead. This message has been edited by Arachnophilia, 07-11-2004 06:54 AM

quote: Agreed completely on Moody, that could be tragic. I believe he actually worked with Avril Lavigne on her new album, though I've yet to even attempt to listen to it. And I heard it was Wes Borland working with Ev, though I supposed it could be a rumor. I mean, her bf is the lead singer of Seether, so perhaps you heard something based on that? Who knows, really...at any rate, I don't think we know what to expect, lol.

I was just listening to this by Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. This song is one of the best examples of storytelling through music I can think of. It's an existential western tale with very evocative lyrics and an ending that, given the right mood, can move you to tears.
The outlaws of the title are very close friends who've grown old together. When one is killed, the life of the other is shattered. This hit version from 1983 is my preference, although Emmylous Harris recorded a lovely rendition a few years earlier. Does anyone else love this song?

I believe he actually worked with Avril Lavigne on her new album, though I've yet to even attempt to listen to it. he worked with her on three songs, and from what i hear, one made it to the album. i'm gonna see if i can find out which it is and download it. (no sense in buying an avril lavigne album, i don't care how cute she is) as for ev rumors, i haven't really been following much. i lost interest when ben left.

Wow...
This guy is way WAY cool! but then, I have pretty ecclectic tastes in music. I'm one of the few people I know who loves TMBG (they might be giants). This dude, Vic Thrill has got to be the strangest act I have seen since Atom and his Package. Seriously, you folks have to check this strangeness out. Vic, he used to be a hassidic jew, decided one day to become a punk rocker Check out the song called 'Humming bird pnummonia' at his site: VIC THRILL Anyway, just thought Id share

Interesting sound, pretty neat song, but I couldn't make out the words. I don't think Vic is for me, but I think I can hear a Klezmer influence, and I love Klezmer. I enhanced your avatar, use it if you want: --Percy

Maybe it's just me. Thanks for the av. BTW, but Im thinking it's time for a new one. STAY TUNED! If I ever get around to it LOL
