Is there a way to delete your account or the availability to? I never come here, so it is pointless for me to keep this account.
That is all.
JIM.

Frankly, no.

He's not dead. He's electroencephalographically challenged.
The longest word in the English language is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

As Moose explained in another thread, your account cannot be deleted because that would orphan all of your posts.
It takes up a trivial amount of space to keep it anyway, and costs you nothing, so why delete it?

Actually it was Percy/Admin that gave the "orphan" explanation.
Only admins can delete members from the rolls. While I think it really wouldn't effect the rest of the board, in that all the "JIM" messages would continue to be listed and atributed to "JIM".
I would suggest that JIM simply go to his profile page, and edit it to eliminate any information he not wish available (ie. Edit such that his e-mail address is not available to the general membership). Also, he may wish to edit the location information to something like "As of 10/26/04 not an active member". Then that information would be displayed at all the "JIM" messages.
Then, if JIM ever wishs to become active again, the account is in place. A forgotten password could be retrieved, as long as the "JIM" e-mail address of record remains functional for JIM.

Then, if JIM ever wishs to become active again, the account is in place.
Not to mention, nobody else can sign up with that name and claim all of JIM's posts as their own, for undoubtedly nefarious purpose.
