Because to many of us who have given it a lot of thought,
the topic has some very deep implications for one's
entire world view. It is also interesting to see how certain different character traits seem to align on either side of the debate.

Politics and evolution
If we consider political alignment, I think it is fair to say that creationists are more likely to be Republican supporters and evolutionists, Democratic supporters. The link between creationists and Republicans is obviously strong belief in the bible. Although it is also obvious we have a few outspoken Republican evolutionists on the site, I suggest this general trend still holds true. It is conservative Republican politicians, after all, who are behind the assault on evolution in the public schools.
