Well, Fats made it through but Katrina dumps on Gatemouth. He will be missed.

Missed a lot.....
I liked his viola (!!) work on Ali Farka Toure's Talking Timbuktu.

That is one amazing disc, and Ai Du is one of the better cuts on the album. Three remarkable performers there, Ry Cooder, Gatemouth Brown and Ali himself.
Funny you should mention that since I happen to have it playing as I write.

Gatemouth was someone extra special, but...
Wouldn't a unified obituary topic be a nice thing, rather than a bunch of micro-topics?
That way, a new passing will also bump the news etc. of the previous passings.
BTW - I just caught in Time magazine that R.L. Burnside also recently passed on.

Ruthless.

Ruthless AND devilishly clever.
BTW - I just caught in Time magazine that R.L. Burnside also recently passed on.
Ruthless, devilishly clever, AND persistent.
...
I dare you to edit the title of this thread.

In all seriousness though... does anybody know where to get some sound clips of Gatemouth Brown to listen to? It's the best tribute I can think of.

Ali Farka Toure died
Going from my memory, I believe it happened on or about Wednesday, 3/8/06.
Mighty surprised that Jar didn't post a new topic about it.
