th. grade (can't remember which) Sacred Studies one of our assignments was to prove there was no GOD. We were expected to prepare and defend a paper supporting Atheism. 'Course we were also expected to refute it as well.
I can remember many nights sitting around the fireplace in one of the Master's houses when the issue of whether or not there was a GOD was hotly debated. Such subjects are prime debating material, particularly for kids that age. And except for Father Cantler, whose views were pretty clear on the subject, I cannot ever remember any of the Masters ever telling us what their position was on that or any other issue.
