Showcase Forum Issues and Requests

As a clarification, Ray has specifically requested a Theistic Evolutionist be assigned to the thread.

Let me start by thanking Ray for his kind comments on my OP/Topic "Common Ground". However, for clarification, having had the opportunity to engage Ray in previous topics, I have to state that I have utterly no interest in discussing anything with him. To be fair, with one exception, I have no interest in engaging any of the folks who have been invited to participate in the Showcase forum, having had experience with all of them in the past.For reference, the one exception is Peter Borger if he should return. I would very much enjoy involvement in a discussion of his idiosyncratic reinterpretation of Raup's Nemesis hypothesis in light of Peter's "creaton wave theory". Having a more than passing interest in and some slight knowledge of extinction theory, I feel that topic would be fascinating.Sorry Percy, I'm afraid I find the Showcase concept to be otherwise highly problematic, although I wish you the best of luck with it.

I agree with everything you pointed out. It was one of the concerns I had when Percy announced this new experiment. In fact, given the nature and past history of the folks invited to participate, I was morally certain that's what the result would be. I don't know about that. I think it's fascinating in a kind of black-humor, filme-noire kind of way.

Actually, my friend, I think one of the reasons more "regulars" aren't participating (and certainly the reason I'm not) is because we really don't think we can do any better. The folks who've attempted participation (WK, nwr, sidelined, EzScience, etc) are generally some of the best that EvC has to offer (well, I don't know DaveScott - this is the first time he's been on, and quite obviously he and JAD have a "history"). If they can't get more than insults and hand waving, I sure as hell don't see what any of the rest of us mere mortals can accomplish.On the other hand, to end on a more positive note Boss, the Showcase is certainly entertaining to me at least. Please don't terminate the experiment just yet.

"Don't bug me"? My dear sir, I have wasted extraordinary amounts of bandwidth on you, Davison, and Syamasu in the past. I have already played that game with all three of you. Why on earth would I have any interest in persuing yet another conversation with people whose minds are so hermetically sealed that the last real thought they've had was in gradeschool? The mere fact that you felt compelled to drag me into your pouty little rant illustrates better than I ever could why it is an utter waste of time for anyone to even attempt rational discussion with you.So yeah, hand me my rocker. I'm quite content to eat popcorn and watch the poor sods who think they can accomplish something constructive in Showcase struggle in the mire. In the meantime, I'll kindly thank you to leave me out of your diatribes in the future.
