This is my first exposure to this site. I arrived at it while researching topics about telescopes for my 7 grade daughters science homework.
Let me take this opportunity to pass on some information readers of this web site should take note of. As of right now the state of Ohio Board of Education just completed revising the science curiculum to include the right to teach "intelligent design". Yes, the door is open to teach "alternatives" to evolution. To discredit science, and substitute faith based teachings is now legal in OHIO.
What matters most is that the rest of the science curiculum revision was neglected at the expense of this one issue. This would have been a wonderfull opportunity to updated the science curriculum in the state of Ohio. But no, special interest groups took advantage of the all republican majority political government office holders and got this passed. The Christian coalition won. The public school children of Ohio LOST.

You say and I quote "to discredit science". Are those actually the words you intend to "stick" to??
As to priority and to speak willingly and personally my life has been on hold because "higher education" not under regulation refused to accomplish something that was not occuring at the high school level when I went to school. A gifted and talented high school class was put in at Hunterdon Central I am told because specifically all of the biological content I was contributing in the class room but my expereice with this subject failed me at University.
There is a problem with discrediting the few particular students with this ability or disability and you may indeed be correct to notice that it is disproportionate with respect to the entire curriculum but this is a cognizable problem and not just an issue and unless it is dealt with I do not understadn how one can ask a child to do well in public school and then they/me find it has no effect as a more "mature" adult.
I guess I must agree to use of that word to.
