Or those great blues bands
The Iridium Lasers
The Daffynition Dualists
The Cryptic Melanists
Jarhead and the Grand Canon Sedimentarians
Impossible Probability
POTM, PET'M and PAT'M
And of course the band that is the hardest to book:
The Transitional Fossils
(they really crank, but they are getting old)

Re: Don't forget about these guys
I always liked the astronomical appeal in that old country song ... "If I said you had a heavenly body, would you hold it against me?"
Which takes us to Country and Western Groups
The Hopeful Hurricane Sisters
The USIS Christian choir
Dr. Bones and the Contentions
Pal Uxy and the Foot Prince
And that headliner at the Grand Old Oprey
D. Nial and the Evidents

Re: Don't forget about these guys
Yeah, I thought the percussionist on varves and tree rings really hammered those riffs.
The base player looked like the one from "Jarhead and the Grand Canon Sedimentarians" and he really layed down some solid grooves
And the guy on clarifynet was terrific, especially on the high notes.

With his classic Fountains of the Deep

Re: D. Nial & The Evidents
I liked their rockabilly version of "Rocky Mountain Why?"
and then the contrast given by their plaintive and haunting "You picked a fine time to leave me loose IDeal"
Only truly great bands can show that depth of virtuosity.

Now it's The Artistry Formerly Known As Foot Prince.
yeah, but that's after he went from country to punk
One of the major influences on him was that new york band
The Fugedaboudits

The Inordinate Fondness For Beatles.
Isn't that running into the 10th set DVD now?
I know my set is incomplete, and it has some great covers on those old tunes
Country Joe and the Fossils doing "Ruby Tuesdayist" and "Isn't it Good Nowegian Wood Rings"
The Eye Focalist Retinue doing "Octopuses Garden" as an instrumental piece done underwater
But my favorite is Jar and the Juvenile Geologist Jammers doing "Maxwell's Hammer" in an open air concert at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Edited by RAZD, : more of course

Re: Gimme that Ole Time Rock & Coal
True, they have really perfected the base line that in a less developed band would just be taken for granite.
I also like Rich Studee and the Ecologists doing "A Day in the Life" and "Here, There, And Everywhere"
and E. O. Times and the Extinctions doing "All Things Must Pass" or "Not A Second Time"
Or George Wallace and the Darwins doing "Do You Want to Know a Secret" and "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey" to say nothing of their signature take on "I am the Walrus"
There are just so many to pick from eh?
