Re: Missing link
Evolutionists should be more concerned about this than the missing link between ape and man.
Why?
Problems such as you mention add no weight to any other possible model, and so far Creationists have never been able to offer any model.

Re: Missing link
I'm only familiar with YEC models, and I know they do provide one. I am guessing you do not believe it is valid, because it is not in the context of evolution?
I find that hard to believe. I don't think there is a YEC model despite what you claim.
If there is, would you be willing to show us how the YEC model explains what is seen even as well (I won't ask for better) than the conventional models? No one else ever has.

Re: Missing link
It's model is demonstrated by it's very definition. In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.
Which of course tells us nothing and is totally worthless and of no value what so ever.
The Fossil record isn't regarded as true to a YEC, and that is how they deal with this problem.
Which is also irrelevant and of no value what so ever, nor does it tell us anything.
If Young Earth Creationism is ever to be considered as something more than just a bad joke, they will have to present models that explain what is seen at least as well as the current models. Until then there is little to be done but laugh at YECs.

Why insect wing development is not a problem
The key point is that insect wing evolution is simply not even a minor problem for Evolution or the TOE. We know several examples of critters that have evolved, lost and then re-evolved wings, we have a model and mechanism that can explain the process, we have examples of various stages in the development of wings, and the fact that some interesting steps along the way may be missing from the current fossil record is no problem at all.
This thread is a classic example of such issues. The initial OP said that no information could be found. When examples were presented the response was either "Oh I knew about that but it doesn't count" or when that was addressed, "Oh that only addresses those specifics, I wanted information on something else."
What is missing is some other model that does a better job of explaining insect wings than the current models.
Until that happens, until the Creationists can present the models that explain what is seen, all of what is seen, at least as well as the current models, the only game, the only theory, the only avenue towards knowledge is the current scientific one.
