and you thought the spirit was willing ...
Loss of habitat is certainly a problem and will get worse, but it gives you an opportunity to rescue a damsel in distress.

Re: Costa Rica
When I was a kid, dragonflies and ladybugs were the two kinds of bugs that we would never kill.
Well I have to admit that we killed a lot of bugs, one at a time ... and mounted them on 4x8 soft fiberboard. Butterflies, moths, dragonflies, damselflies, beetles, etc. With common names and scientific names. The advantages of having a university zoology professor for a dad -- he would take us to areas that he wanted to take his classes on fieldtrips to for testing.
Enjoy

global climate change
Our working hypothesis is climate change. So far, the species have been generalists, so it is not really a factor of their habitat changing. More warm summer days and fewer cold winter days seem to be enough to allow them to breed and survive in lots of ponds and sluggish streams.
That is what I would expect - moving into areas\ecologies they are already adapted to as the climate changes. Specialists would have more difficulty in finding similar habitats, so generalists would most likely be seen first.
Enjoy
ps -- waiting for pictures ...
pps -- the blue double underlined stuff appears to be something my new computer thinks everybody needs ... ad links to insanity ... I'll need to find how to turn it off.

... There is a genus of damselflies that are waterfall specialists that we would have loved to search for,but the terrain was just too rugged.

addressing another point
when the young girl was asked why she took off her dress and threw it over the bug, she replied "now you have a damsel in dis dress to rescue ..."
