Well, I don't believe that most of the posters here, either evolutionists or creationists, intend to be derisive in their comments. It happens though that there is a certain amount of frustration when you feel you have worked hard to educate yourself and someone who is unwilling to do so comes here and spouts out some mindless drivel over and over again without the decency to check their facts even when called on them.
I have always felt that the purpose of debate is not only come to a mutual understanding but to learn something. There seem to be a majority of creationists who refuse to educate themselves about what they are debating. I mean that they refuse to look into the many websites or god forbid read a book or peer reviewed journal that is presented to them as having a good scientific basis for evolution. I would hazard a bet that many if not all the evolutionists here have taken a look at the creationists literature or websites in order to understand or see where the arguments are coming from. At least to see if there might be the slight chance that there is some truth to be gleaned. It can be tiresome and irksome at the least, if not hairpullingly frustrating.
I do not believe that these attacks are meant to be as derisive as they seem. Just outbursts of frustration. By the way, if you continue to read through the various posts you will notice that the majority of posts(that I have seen) from creationists are as derisive if not more so. They can get downright nasty at times

How did you determine when evolution started? Why leave out the pre-galaxy hydrogen gas? I may sound absurd, but the question is still valid: "How did you determine when evolution started?"
I don't think any scientists can give you some definite time when evolution started. What you will probably here is that evolution started when an individual who varied in their heritable traits within a population was able to produce offspring. That these offspring also varied in their heritable traits and had the potential to produce more offspring than the environment could support. This overpopulation led to a struggle for existence among the variant memebrs of the population. Those offspring whos traits better helped them to survive and reproduce in thier environment were able to leave a disproportionately larger number of viable offspring. This differential reproductive success of some offspring over others meant that those traits passed down were more likely to appear in subsequent populations.
The TOE is not concerned with how or where the first organism came about. The [i]evolution[/] of the universe via the big bang is not concerned with the evolution of life. They both may hint at possible causes or relationships but they are seperate theories. You may wish to peruse a biology textbook again. We might at that time be able to answer any questions you have more succinctly, and you, as well as we, may understand more about what we are discussing.

Yes, you and crashfrog spend far too much time together. So, when did YOU stop beating your wife?
Is it me or does this comment strike anyone else as extremely distastefull, crass, unnecessary, disrespectfull, etc? This comment seems to me to be patently unchristianlike.
I have yet to see anything of substance concerning micro-evolution from our neighborhood tick. I think the only thing he has done is been "snarky", sometimes blatantly so.
