Briefly, a couple months ago this site's webhosting company imposed compute and virtual memory limits on processes. I did some recoding which took care of some of the problems, and I divided the small number of large forums into a large number of small forums (something I'd been planning anyway) which took care of some more of the problems.
But problems remain. We're within 10 MB of the disk space limit, but there are occasionally usage spikes for reasons not satisfactorily explained to me, and whenever it spikes above the limit data is lost.
The webhosting company has been taking an antagonistic view toward requests for help and information. They appear to view bulletin board sites as the enemy, and I feel like I'm being encouraged to go elsewhere.
And so that's what we're doing. I've already begun setting up the site at another webhosting company. There will likely be a short transition period of a day or two where you'll have to access the site through an IP address rather than the familiar
http://localhost/Website_ValueWeb_exp. That can't be helped as the registration of the domain name of has to be transferred from one webhosting company to another, and while only taking an instant to perform there's no way to know precisely when it will happen.
The move should affect activity here very little, if at all, but I'll provide more information as moving day approaches.
