I still stand by my statement that the numbers are close enough. I wouldn't expect the verse to say 10 cubits in diameter and 31.415926535897932384626433832795 cubits around. 10 cubits by 30 cubits is fine with me. In fact, even throwing in the word "about" in front of each number would not affect the theological or historicity of the verse. I find the insistence on accurate measures to be a nitpick instead of a error within the bible.

You're kiddin' right?
A devinely inspired document written by the creator of perfection himself can be off a tad?

I can see no valid reason for continuing this thread, the problem is not with the math but with the description and as far as I can see image on the AIG website furnished by Silas (thanks) explains it in a completely reasonable manner.

They probably buried the mold in the clay, sand, whatever, and poured the molten brass, they would of needed an inside circumference, they had it, it was 30 cubits, etc...
P.S. If a person is going to make a mold, the 30 cubits would of been the circumference of the mold, the inside circumference, it didn't really say 30 cubits was below the brim, nevertheless, that was an excellent article from AIG, either way 30 cubits is not related to the same circle as the diameter of 10 cubits, guess were all in agreement, the bible is not saying pi = 3, etc...

A book of theology written by man that was never intended to reflect scientific accuracy? Yes, it can be off.

but why?, it evidently turned out to be pretty a big deal that is...when there was absolutely no need for it...it's like writing an auto-biography to the human race and not caring if it's right for future generations...surely the all-knowing saw this coming.

The purpose of the Bible (in my opinion) was to pass theology on to future generations, not literal history or literal scientific truths.

surely the all-knowing saw this coming.
. . . and left evidence within and upon the earth in order for us to find the truth without the bias of human pride and arrogance?

Yep, and as you wrote that, you were thinking the whole time; "What I'm writing here is so unnecessary...because it could have already been done".

Re: Twelve oxen?
Rocket writes:
"Three looking toward the south and three looking toward the east"...thats only six...are we to assume that there were three more looking toward the north and another three looking toward west? If there are only three on the south and three on the eawst, cipher, cipher...it's gonna' fall over (I used my highly advanced math skills again).
Touche.
I was quoting the NKJV, and somehow screwed up a cut and paste. The bible describes all twelve oxen, three for each cardinal direction. This is an example of a copying error; and I am the one who made that error. I have fixed it in my original post, but with acknowledgement of the original error.
Thanks -- Sylas

Re: You're kiddin' right?
We all know the kjv bible is inerrant, but were not saved by the law, but in Christ who fullfilled the law, so its in the faith of Christ that were putting our faith in, the Word clothed in flesh, and its in Christ that were saved, heaven and earth will pass away but the Words of the Lord will never pass away, God chose the foolishness of preaching the gospel to save them that hear, and believe, though its foolishness to them that don't believe, but to them that believe its the power of God, etc...Its kinda interesting though how Adam died in the day he sinned fullfilling scripture too, that one day to the Lord is as a thousand of our years, what an awesome God, that a thousand of our years is but as a watch in the night, and that God is watching all, but from whose face heaven and earth shall pass away, and then judment day, the New Jerusalem, a new heaven and new earth, where all things will become new, to them that are saved, lambs book of life, etc...
P.S. Well Guess were all in agreement that the thread should be closed, in that we all agree the bible is not in error in respect to pi = 3, etc...

Re: You're kiddin' right?
All that hooey is good for you...but it don't do a darn thing for science or the advancement of humanity, it instead, haults progress and takes hummanity BACK 2000 years to create wars and killing over something that is inherently too old and too WRONG!

Re: You're kiddin' right?
I don't see technologies helping humanity, I see it enslaving humanity, due to automation (jobs lost), to compete with slave labor countries that industries are fleeing to, people with degree's unable to find employment due to fleeing technolgies to slave labor camps in other countries, for profit, due to the free trade treaties signed into being by Clinton (democrat), preventing penalties on free trade, to protect industries that fled America, for profit, etc... how is Clintonomics helping humanity if industy is pocketing the profit, etc...
P.S. It was quite interesting how pharmacy companies was allowed to keep their monopoly on drug costs in America, though people are getting around this now, by being allowed to buy drugs directly from Canada, same drugs at half the costs, etc...
