Not counting sports, I don't watch much TV. Basically it's 8 Simple Rules, Scrubs, and that's it. We have a TiVo, so no matter when a show is on we can watch it whenever we want.
Joan of Arcadia is a new show on TV this season, and in our household we've only missed one show so far, and that was due to a conflict with preseason basketball. But after the third show I changed the priorities on the TiVo, and Joan of Arcadia is now in front of basketball. We watched last week's show over the weekend, and then last night, a Tuesday, I watched it again while I restrung a tennis racket. And tonight I just watched it again with my daughter. I barely watch most shows once, but I've just watched one episode of one show 3 times inside of a week, and I enjoyed it more each time.
Joan of Arcadia shares some qualities with some of my favorite movies, rare for a TV show. Really good movies reveal deeper and deeper layers and strengthen their fabric with every viewing. Two of my favorites that fit this description are Casablanca and Manhattan. Joan of Arcadia achieves the same thing. It has great acting, great writing, great directing, great depth, great feeling.
Joan of Arcadia, CBS, Friday nights, 8 PM.

TiVo Plug
While I'm at it I may as well promote TiVo, too. Here's a thread where I describe it:

Re: TiVo Plug
I rather like TiVo but I never seen the shows you mentioned or for that fact heard of them.
I personally go for Modern Marvels on Discovery channel, CSI (Crime Science Investigation) on CBS, That 70s Show on Fox, Simpsons/Family Guy, and Extreme Engineering.
Those are my top picks.

Joan of Arcadia
I see I left something out of the recommendation for Joan of Arcadia. The reason I mentioned it is because it is somewhat topical for this forum. The similarity of the title with Joan of Arc is on purpose. Joan has conversations with God.

Hmmm... I think I might check it out.
I'm not big on 'religious' programmin, but I can appreciate a good show. As long as it's not nauseatingly cheesy and smarmy (haha - love that word!)like Touched by an Angel.
Thanks for the heads up.

The Season's Second Half
Hi, all!
I'm still watching "Joan of Arcadia", but to be honest I think it may have fallen off this second half of the season. The first half had direction, purpose and continuity, but the second half has just recently begun to feel as disjointed as "Time Tunnel" episodes. It's almost as if in January the writers and producers said, "Omigod, we haven't been cancelled yet, now what?"
But two shows should neither make nor break a series, and I haven't given up on "Joan" yet. It's still edgey, engrossing, entertaining.
Here's another plug for for the show.

Am I the last person on Earth to get into "The West Wing"? If you're not watching that and "Sports Night" (the comedy, not the sports) then you're missing some of the sharpest writing in the biz. I need band-aids when I watch it, Aaron Sorkin is that sharp.

OK, I of course watch the food network, but not Emeril. I hate Emeril. The old Iron Chef episodes are awesome.
(Incidentally, there's a good chance I will be on a show on the Food Network called "The Best Of" on the evening of March 25. The title of the show is "Deli Delights" and I will either be talking about how a Zingerman's sandwich was named after me or my hands will be shown making fresh mozzarella cheese. Or both, possibly.)
We rarely miss Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Trading Spaces.
I I was a serious Buffy the Vampire Slayer devotee for a while, although I haven't gotten as into Angel, which I also like fine. I also LOVED Family Guy, but it was cancelled.
I also catch The Simpsons and South Park when I can.
Years ago I religiously watched My So-Called Life, and I still think that was one of the best things on tv in 20 years. That was cancelled, too.

Did you end up on the show? If so, will it be replayed?

I thought this was a reference to the 'God Channel'!
The God channel has just recently appeared free on my cable TV package.
All that is missing from the channel is Randall P. McMurphy.
Brian.
