Rocket, you are in violation of the guidelines. Your permission to post in this forum (Suggestions and Questions) is revoked. Your text has been blocked out to be white on white.
You may email administrators with a request to be restored, along with an indication that you understand the guidelines about respect for other members of the forum. (Guideline 3 in Forum rules.) My own email seems to be down at present; but you could also post to Free For All, where you can acknowledge this and request reinstatement, or else flame the moderators if that is your preference.

I think Rocket should have the title "King of the suspended."

Re: Revealing what happened
Rocket knows the score by now. He seems to make a deliberate attempt to be suspended by being an Admin's nightmare. Also, I'm as guilty as anyone else for fun and games, but he seems to never want to post a serious message.
Far as I'm concerned you made a correct judgement - his comments to (Ringo?)were totally unnecessary.

Humor
Rocket is as harmless as they come. If you look at his avatar, it should occur to you that his humor is 'other'. It's not easy to keep up with him, but that gets better with time. It is, however, more than a little fun to try. I've known him for a long time and have enjoyed the laughter caused by his irreverance and 'peculiar to him' way of looking at things.

Re: Humor
I also like Rocket and his humour. But that won't make calling people foul words --> acceptable. He should draw the line and obey the admin's request instead of pushing his luck. It isn't Sylas, it is AdminSylas - therefore he must recognise his posts as just that - the admin make the rules, fullstop. This forum remains the cream because of the lack of name-calling remember.

You can note from message 1, that Rocket posted 346 messages in roughly 1 month (he registered 4/4/04). I think that the real content of the messages was usually pretty lean. He functioned mostly as a topic disrupter.
You can check out Rocket's message history by clicking on his name at message one. Also, more Rocket message links can be found by doing a "posted by" search for his name.
I say he's a troll. We have enough problems trying to make things work around here, to put up with his "contributions".

making room for
his way of looking at things would, of course, not be acceptable in this setting. No more than Mark Twain or Will Rogers and their kind were acceptable in the drawing rooms of the 'classed'. I like him and call him 'little brother'. Try and emulate his humor and you will find it impossible. It comes from a heart filled with compassion for his fellows, and the 'endearments' he uses are indicative of a man talking to another man and knowing that it is really not name-calling but 'buddies talking'.
I believe I am correct.

That's fine, but this is a debate board, with an emphasis upon information and evidence.
It is inappropriate for Rocket to frequently insert little "cute" comments into otherwise serious debate, particularly when that seems to be pretty much the only thing he does here.
It's annoying and disruptive.

Re: making room for
Maybe it is time that Rocket was invited back. He has bared indignation long enough. It's not right to leave him in the cold forever. It seems there was no long lasting harm done to RingoKid (to the best of my knowledge).
If it is true about his endearments then maybe it's time.

Re: making room for
Why, just today alone I have experienced several gut-wrenching laughing attacks, thanks to Rocket. One of them so hearty, people from other offices came running - to join - mostly. What does an 'otherwise serious debate' need most?
I have a feeling and deeply so, that God laughs his ass off at Rockets antics. Now, chastise me on this assertion.
He is a revelation unto the magic of human nature, a fine scientist, (bet you didn't know that), and a strong man of some strong convictions. He has a family that adores him, his 'board' family notwithstanding. I tell ya folks, I would not have laughed today until he came about with his originals. You just never know who benefits and to what extend. In my case, much.

Re: making room for
All he has to do is ask, as far as I am concerned. Moderators are not all of one mind on these issues. I would not have banned him as a result of the post in this thread; it sets a bit of an unfortunate precedent. I think that we should give a lot of lattitude in this forum for rants at moderators.
On the other hand, I've been very disappointed that he did not ever seem to bring any of his offline expertise to discussions, that I could see.
Anyhow, as I understand the matter the way to get restored is simply to ask. This is a very effective way to get someone to notice the extra force which applies to some requests about use of the board.
I'm sure RingoKid was not damaged at all by the attack. However, that kind of comment is still not acceptable. Someone without a history of being a problem might have been given a warning.
If Rocket feels unfairly done by, and does not want to bother with the board any more, or to talk to moderators about the matter, then I think we will have to manage without him. But if he wants to come back, he can send an email to admins, and I am sure that would fix it.
Cheers -- AdminSylas

Re: making room for
I am sure that Rocket is an all-around swell guy, I really am.
However, the wonderful, funny, adored-by-his-family person that you describe rocket to be was also injecting side comments instead of contributing any of his science knowledge to the debate.
It would be one thing if he had been doing both, but he wasn't.
If all he wanted to do was goof around, the unmoderated FFA and Coffee Hous fora are there for shooting the shite.
