Many times, on this forum alone, I've seen creationists pop up with a quote from Darwin in which he either pointed out holes in his theories, or cast doubt on his ideas. Alternately, creationists will oftentimes argue that the theory of evolution, as it stood at the time of Darwin's writings, does not hold up.
Yeah, so?
Honestly, how many years have passed since Darwin kicked the oxygen habit? How much research has gone into evolution in that time? Even if it came to light that Darwin had published a previously unknown addendum to Origin of the Species called "My Bad, I Was Totally Wrong, Jesus is the Only Way", why would it matter at all?
Freud gets outright debunked on a regular basis. But psychiatry has come a very long way since Freud. You don't see anyone trying to use quotes from Freud to debunk all of psychiatry.

Ms. Krabappal:Are there any more questions?
Bart:Yes, how would I go about making a half man half monkey creature?
Krabapal:I'm sorry Bart, that would be playing God.
Bart:God schmod! I want my monkey man!

"The Origin of Species" is such a good example of science, non-scientists mistake it for bad science.
Is that clear?
OK, let me explain - I've often seen Darwin's work criticized on the basis of how much time he spent covering problems with the theory.
Of course, that's precisely why it's such good science: attention to weaknesses and to further tests which can falsify the theory. Creationists, and not a few true scientists, spend way too much time insulating their theories from harm, which is completely counter-productive.
