Demi and D'Arcy had been out back, guarding the neighborhood, protecting plant and sky, branch and bug. But now it was time to come in, time for reward and maybe some kibbles.
As I let them free of their cables I heard the sound I've come to love down here, of the Parrots returning to their roost. They are amazing, flying in noisy flocks, constantly exchanging tales of the days accomplishments as they wing their way to the evening gathering spot next to the Hastings Book Store in McAllen where they will gather on the wires, pair up and commune before heading off to the nightly roost.
In all tonight I saw four flights, each of 25-50 birds.
