LOL - I love this stuff!
Here's a link to the story on CNN.
So here's the deal - the birth mark on this unfortunate kid's face:
looks exactly like:
Hmmmm?
This is going to give Wise a coronary.

Actually, I spoke too hastily. It turns out the birth-mark on the kid's face is supposed to say Ala in arabic (his dead Hamas father's name) rather than Allah his high holiest etc etc..
It's still stretching it, but I'm starting to see the likeness now. I'm guessing Ala is spelt Ayn-Laam-Alif.
(If arabic hasn't been drummed into you from an early age through tortuously reading a large and ancient book which you didn't have a hope of understanding even if you knew the language, when you should have been outside in the Sun torturing snails with your friends then you can use:
to look for the likeness).
Use the initial for 'ayn (4th on left)
+ medial for lam (6th from bottom on left)
+ final for alif (top right)
Its not great, but I can see where they're coming from.

Oh, I dunno, Egg. It looks more like a slightly damaged female Memphis morvus boisduvali (family Nymphalidae, subfamily Charaxinae) to me. Of course, I keep saying all those Rorschach blots look like butterflies, as well.
Alternatively, if you tilt your head to the right a bit, it sort of looks like that mouse from the "Itchy and Scratchy" show on Simpsons...

lol....definitely! Itchy in a convertible?
If you read it in English, it seems to me to resemble "HC" which could stand for a number of things:
HC
Hazardous Cargo. Abbreviation appears in the international red-circle-with-diagonal-slash on roads through populous areas.
HC
Heat-Cleaned.
H.C., HC
High-Capacity [bomb]. Technically, a bomb whose weight was 75-80% explosive (see CWR). Term used by the British during WWII both attributively (``H.C. bomb'') and nominally (``4000-lb. H.C.''). Informally they were called blockbusters.
HC
High-speed Cmos logic. Infix on 7400-series SSI/MSI and other chips. (E.g., ``74HC381.'')
HC
Host Controller.
HC
Hot Carrier. A electron or hole with kinetic energy substantially greater than kBT, typically as a result of high electric fields.
I'm all for 'Hazardous Cargo' - I reckon its a sneaky trick by Mossad.
For more Islamic 'miracles', a few sites:
This one details the numerous "tomotoes" of God.
More dubious looking fruits and vegetables from the Creator of the Universe
Mind you,
Don't look here if you want to see how its done. (Or here).

Is that how alif and lam merge when alif proceeds lam? Also, I wasn't familiar with any arabic names that end in alif, but I'm certainly no expert on arabic names
Personally, I think it's a fake - it's too neatly shaped - but who knows.
Does anyone here remember the Coca-Cola scandal a while back?

To No One in Particular
Has anyone else heard of the superstitious belief that a birthmark appears on the body of a reincarnated individual at or about the same place as the wound or disease that caused the death of the predecessor?
So ... this Hamas dad ... does anyone know where his wound occurred?

Pretty much. There's a special sort of pair bond between lam and alif (iirc they're sometimes treated as a single letter lam-alif). Not easy to find examples of this on the web but check out hwere it says "Lam Alif" 2/3 of the way down this page.
Ala isn't in the pantheon of Arabic names - must be shorthand for something. I'm not aware of any custom which forbids names ending in Alif, though I agree I don't know many either.

I hadn't heard about this. I love these things (seem to recall Adidas having to recall a make of shoe because the logo looked too much like "Allah" in arabic - see the picture in #2).
Funny thing is, once I've had the coca-cola thing explained to me, I can see exactly why they might take offence. The drawback of Arabic is, because its so freeform, you can pretty much make any squiggle look like something meaningful (and hence offensive).

His uncle (sorry it was his Uncle and not his Dad) was killed by the Israelis on suspicion of planning a suicide bombing. No wound details given.
Although, come to think of it, that birth mark does look a bit like a bulldozer....
