It is apparent that this is a very real issue in everyones life, and no matter whom you are from whatever walk of life you can not escape this problem... so how do we all deal with it?
I know I deal with it in both healthy and unhealthy ways... I would that I only deal with it in the healthy but I yet do not, getting closer every day...
addictions are the biggest way I have dealt with pain, be it sexual, smoking, drinking, what ever it is that I have myself used as a vise... my prayer is to be free from these things so that I can live a more comfortable existance with pain and suffering..
fellowship has been the best way to dealing with my pain... fellowship with others whom are supporting, be that by listening, encouraging, growing with or just enjoying each others company... the most effective fellowship I have had is Christ centred... it is my prayer that our fellowship grows even deeper and in truth, that we are able to hold accountability to each other and pray for each other... please Lord do not let us be a stumbling block to each other...

Pain to me is just a signal, be it physical pain or mental pain. The question is therefore not "how do I deal with pain" but rather "how do I remove that which causes me pain?"
Of course, sometimes that's not always possible (i.e. the pain of loss of a loved one). But I find the inevitability of some types of pain, paradoxically, is what makes it easier to deal with. Pain is natural, as is pleasure, thus one should not take either of them too seriously. It's the cost of existence, and I much prefer it to the alternative.
