almeyda had responded to me in Message 35 of the Why not teach problems with ToE in school? thread:

The fact that the Bible does not say, "Life evolved," does not mean evolution is incompatible with the Bible. Genesis is fairly vague when it comes to discussing exactly how god did his creation. Who are you to say it couldn't possibly have been through evolution?
How do you explain that evolution evolves through death and survival of the fittest.
Why can't that be the way that god wants it?
quote:
Whereas the Bible says God made a world deemed 'very good' by god himself, ruined by sin. Not until the fall of man did the world have death and suffering.
That isn't what the Bible says.
Genesis clearly points out that Adam and Eve were going to die. That's why they get kicked out of Eden: They have become as gods, knowing good and evil, and lest they eat from the tree of life and live forever, god has to kick them out.
What is the point of the tree of life if Adam and Eve were already going to live forever?
quote:
Evolution however uses death and bloodshed over millions of yrs, the unfit die, the fit genes go on. If this is the case then how are they compatible?
Simple: God wants it that way. Have you considered the possibility that god does exist but not in the way you think? The Bible is amazingly vague about god's plan. Where do you find any indication that god ever intended for organisms to live forever?
After all, isn't that part of many ethical statements in the Bible? Your time on this planet is short. Make it worthwhile. Don't be a jerk. Be nice to one another.
That doesn't really mean much if you're going to live forever.

Where should this go?
And I'm not at all clear where you want this to go? Can you suggest a different title or make clear what will be the topic please.
Which forum should it be in?

Re: Where should this go?
I was going to put it in Faith and Belief. The essential claim is that there can be no god if evolution is accurate. And yet, there are plenty of people who believe in god and also accept evolution as accurate (for example, the Catholic Church). Too, even if we restrict ourselves to a biblical analysis of what god is supposed to be like, there is no basis to claim that evolution and god cannot coexist since the Bible is amazingly vague on how god does his miracles and even more tight-lipped about the reasons god does what he does.
Thus, the question of whether or not it is possible that god does exist as those who believe that god and evolution cannot coexist claim but not in the way they think?

Debate with authority!
Rrhain, despite the fact that I usually disagree with you, the OP is awesome. I'll give whoever opposes this verbal onslaught 5 back-and-forth rounds of debate before they spend the remaining posts arguing in circles, dodging points and completely forgetting anything you say.
