to DC95
(it got a bit long, hope you don't mind ^__^)
You know, most people need help with understanding the Bible. I think people need that, cause some verses in the Bible might give you weird ideas.
(I'm NOT saying that you have weird ideas! at least.. not any that I know of ^__~, okay? So please don't get upset.)
If someone wants to find a text to begin the day and just looks for one and accidentatlly finds this one... well.... not good right? ^___^
Matthew 27:5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Or this one might get people confused:
Psalms 14:1b: "There is no God."
Before this verse it says something which might clear things up:
The fool has said in his heart,
(again, I am NOT saying that you are the fool. I don't know you that well)
You know, when stuff happens in your life, you (you in general) get the idea that God is nowhere in sight to help you out.
I had some trouble in my life and I felt like God had left me alone to deal with it. We lost our child during pregnancy. And I thought, why did God not answer our prayers to keep this child from dying. (hellp-syndrome)
For a long time I wondered if praying even had puropse.
God would'nt listen anyway.
But then - with some help - I realized it was not God who put me into this trouble. This trouble is part of life. Anybody has these kinds of troubles. If it's not this, it's something else. And if someone never had any trouble it's bound to come around some time.
It was God who helped me deal with the pain, dissapointment and doubt it gave me.
And I did feel his peace and I was very 'lucky' when I had this hellp-syndrome, cause it could have been way worse for me than it was. Here's the famous: God works in mysterious ways. ^__^ He does.
And then I decided that I would not let God's enimy, the Satan, have his way: making me believe that God had left me by myself and so leave Him.
Cause that's how I see it. Satan tries everything to keep people away from God's love. That's what he does for a living, he can't help it (anymore).
Do you know this story?
Footsteps In The Sand
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him
he looked back, at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
oh yeah...
there's nothing wrong with being a 'science' and a 'faith' person.

Because the young impressive minds are bombarded with one sided theories on origins etc along with the peer pressure from classmates.
Why should learning the facts about what hundreds of thousands of scientists have spend hundreds of years learning about the cosmos cause someone to lose their faith?
It seems to me, that if one's religion requires one to choose between reality and their faith, then that particular religious faith is doomed to be rejected by intelligent, intellectually honest people.
Never once, in my 4 years at university, did any classmate ever talk to me about becoming an atheist or agnostic.
There were plenty of mormon missionaries lurking about, however.

Speaking as a non-native English speaker, I absolutely hate anything type of English besides the modern version of the English language. With that said, Hawthorn and Shelly made it to my hitlist a long time ago. If I ever invent a time machine...

Just so you know, it isn't any more readable for us natives. Trust me. (It helps to read it aloud, I've found.)
With that said, Hawthorn and Shelly made it to my hitlist a long time ago.
Hawthorne's on my list too, for his boring prose and endless exposition. I swore blood feud against him that fateful day I opened The Scarlett Letter only to have to slog through a 30-page prologue before I could even start the novel.
As for Shelley, which one? Mary or Percy Byshhe? You might not want to write off ol' Mr. Shelley too soon - he is, after all, the author of such works as The Necessity of Atheism...

Speaking of English
I would like to include a talk that I gave many years ago to some people working on a language recognition program.
One problem with language recognition programs is that English is, as anyone can sea, a very elusive tongue. When a gnu word or phrase comes along it is readily added two the body of language. English can be as light as heir or as heavy as led. It often can be only understood when red in context and many associations can be maid as the language grows. Know one can really tell when something is knew or simply an adaptation of what others new already. It flows along like the see, wave upon wave two the end of time. I wood wish that it was easier but it is like trying to see the trees threw the would.
edited to change tak to talk.

Marry Shelley. You can tell how much I hate their works by the fact that I misspelled both their names.

Re: Speaking of English
Ooooh, that was fun!
You could also change "time" in the next to last sentence to "thyme".

The deep red rose, I see its thorn
I just ignore the scent that's borne
To me, it's nothing. I deplore
Those scratches that I got before
I just complain About the pain
A lot I think of Beauty's gain
The deep red rose I see
Its thorn I just ignore
The scent that's borne to me
It's nothing I deplore
Those scratches that I got:
Before I just complain
About the pain a lot,
I think of Beauty's gain.
