I was watching the discovery channel today "the top 10 unexplained mysteries". Ghosts and faith healing were in the middle, aliens and alien abductions were in the top 3, and finally the after life was number 1. Watching the stories of the people who actually DID die (scientifically and empirically speaking) and then came back into consciousness really got me intrigued. Apparently 13 million people in the United States (I don't know the time frame this is in) have had these experiences. Most of the time what they say is they feel their conscience (or awareness I should say) leave their body and suddenly they're saturated with energy, and boundless, like light. I don't want to give too much away because I want you to explore this site. Which was a link from here. I am no christian. I firmly believe in evolution and natural origins but I now think I am missing something then just materialism.... Check it out.

quote: For this reason you have Christians meeting God, Muslims meeting Allah, Hindus seeing Kali and every other belief as well.
What I find interesting though is that everytime they meet God, Allah, or Kali, they see the same thing, a being made of light and pure energy. Granted there is some scientific reason for these things happening. However, regardless of the physiological processes I think there is something more to it.

Here are NDE's being scientifically validated.
Here is the NDE or out-of-body experience being induced.

Sleep Paralysis
I've had this before as well. I made a thread about it but I have no clue where it is now. When I had it I was a christian and I saw a dark image come up to me (funnily enough this was at 3:16 AM) and whisper something in my ear. I have no clue what it said because I didn't feel I should listen in case it was an evil 'thing' lying to me trying to screw up my life. Nevertheless it was terrifying. I also felt like my temples were going to explode! Lam, do you ever feel pressure in your temples when this happens? Maybe not anymore but at the start?

Re: Sleep Paralysis
That's crazy you saw a dark figure the first time! I've only had this happen to me that one time and that's what I saw. (like I already mentioned, I know) but still very interesting.

Pure Energy - Sidelined
What I mean when I say pure energy is what any scientists would say. For instance:
quote: ...It reenacts events that occurred just after the Big Bang, when some of the pure energy that filled the cosmos became all the matter that now exists.
Taken from Discover Magazine in an article about antimatter. Call it light, neutrinos, whatever...

Re: Sleep paralasis?
My dark figure tried to whisper something in my ear too. I just didn't listen. But I'm kind of curious as to what it said.

Re: Pure Energy - Sidelined
Sidelined, I don't know what the hell you are talking about. If you don't think pure energy exists in some form or whatever then there is no need talking to you.

Re: 'Re: Pure Energy - Sidelined
quote: Sorry old man I am just trying to get it clear with you that statements such as "pure energy" are meaningless in science since we do not know what energy itself actually is.It is an abstract value that we measure in given situations that remain the same as dictated by the law of conservation of energy.
Then why do scientists use it in a sentance?
quote: ...It reenacts events that occurred just after the Big Bang, when some of the pure energy that filled the cosmos became all the matter that now exists.
Again, this quote is from Discover Magazine

Re: 'Re: Pure Energy - Sidelined
They're physicists. So, you may be right they may not want to complicate things for the general public, understandable, but I think by saying 'pure energy' they mean exactly that only probably more complex. I don't see how pure energy could mean something else totally.

Perhaps someone can translate for me then what really happened at the start of the universe and what was really there?

True enough! Well, whatever pure energy is, whether it's real or just a form of measurement, etc. it's an interesting concept from the viewpoint of the after life.
